A good end to the session for New Zealand and it has been their session. They've added 90 runs for the loss of one wicket.

An intriguing Test, it really is. You feel as if New Zealand are just ahead at this stage. They've got the runs on the board.

  8. Tea - NZ 128-4published at 15:42 British Summer Time 3 June 2022

    Lead by 119

Tom Blundell is not afraid to charge Matt Parkinson and a powerful straight drive smashes into the wickets at the other end. That looked four all the way.

This is four though. Parkinson drops it far too short and Blundell helps himself with a cut square into the offside to complete a potentially pivotal session.

Tom Blundell and Daryl Mitchell have battled hard to put New Zealand into a strong position.

Plenty for England to ponder during the break.

Ben Wire: Landed. No jeopardy - feels unnervingly like a Test match. What happened?

There's not been a real sense of permanence from any of the batters in this Test until this afternoon.

Former skipper Joe Root is doing his best to try and rally the troops but it has all gone a bit flat out there from an England perspective.

There's a brief flurry of excitement as Matthew Potts finds the edge of Tom Blundell's bat, but the ball immediately dies on the pitch and rolls along the ground past the slips.

It was a low full-toss and it was dealt with by Blundell, expertly. Just creamed through the covers.

  13. NZ 121-4published at 41 overs

    Dismissive from Tom Blundell.

Matt Parkinson bowls a wide full toss and it gets the treatment, Blundell smashing a cross-batted shot away for four.

  14. NZ 115-4published at 40 overs

Clouds are gathering overhead at Lord's - symbolic of England's fading hopes?

Matthew Potts is as miserly as ever as he bowls a maiden on his return t the attack - the debutant is 2-25 from his nine overs this innings.

John C Hughes: Call me a bluff old traditionalist but I’m rather enjoying this more sedate passage of play. What’s the point in being a cricket fan if you can’t have an afternoon nap.

  17. NZ 115-4published at 39 overs

Good running as Tom Blundell helps one around the corner and they scamper through for three.

After the fireworks of the first four sessions things have calmed right down. It is looking pretty comfortable for New Zealand out there.

This is a very useful partnership for New Zealand. It's pretty much what they've been hoping for throughout the match.

Conway's wicket came from a nothing shot from a nothing delivery and yet it meant so much. Cricket can do that. But Mitchell has played well and he's had the support from Blundell.

  19. NZ 112-4published at 38.1 overs

Oh dear. Matt Parkinson sends down a rank full toss that Daryl Mitchell looks to smash out of the ground - but he can only find the toe end and it falls short of the boundary.

They remarkably only run one. Parky got away with one there.

  20. NZ 111-4published at 38 overs

James Anderson strays down leg and a lovely wristy flick from Tom Blundell sends the ball flying down to fine leg for four to move to 24.

This is turning into a useful partnership for New Zealand as he edge towards tea.
