  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 83.5 overs

    Jamieson b Broad 0 (NZ 251-7)

    TEAM HAT-TRICK!

Stuart Broad sends off-stump cartwheeling. It may have hit Kyle Jamieson's inside edge and then into the pads before smashing the stump into the ground but Broad and England don't care.

Three wickets in three balls and England are, perhaps, edging their way back into the game.

That was a dopey, dopey mistake. That is incredible work from Pope, Broad was still appealing as the ball comes in dead eye, middle stump!

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 83.4 overs

De Grandhomme run out (Pope) 0 (NZ 251-6)

    HE'S GONE! First ball!

    That is utterly ridiculous cricket.

Colin de Grandhomme gets struck on the pad and Stuart Broad wheels off in celebration - it was going miles down the leg side - but the New Zealand all-rounder takes a couple of steps down the track.

Ollie Pope picks up and throws down the stumps and De Grandhomme is a inch or two short of his ground.

    England are sensing something!

    Oh what has happened here?

There is a massive appeal for lbw from Stuart Broad and everyone seems to be focussing on that but then someone has thrown down Colin de Grandhomme's stumps at the non-striker's end.

Is this a moment of brilliance/silliness?

Beauty! Good ball, it was angled in, went a touch wider and just held it's line.

That was a fantastic knock, could it be the match-winning one?

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 83.3 overs

    Mitchell c Foakes b Broad 108 (NZ 251-5)

    A wicket!

Did Stuart Broad got a little wider on the crease to draw the edge here? Possibly.

It's a good ball from Broad, angled into towards the stumps and he draws a thin edge from Daryl Mitchell as the all-rounder presses forward in defence.

England will hope this starts a roll of wickets.

  7. NZ 251-4published at 83 overs

    Lead by 242

A tighter line from James Anderson, as he draws Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell into defensive shots.

Mitchell works a couple, and then a single, behind point.

He's up to 108. The partnership is 195.

They've bowled better lengths, at least they are up there searching.

Daryl Mitchell is batting two or three inches outside his crease at the moment - that gives a good indication of how slow he thinks this Lord's pitch is.

Stuart Broad's line is a lot better than Jimmy Anderson's as a defending Mitchell picks up four via a thick outside edge through point.

England have got four slips, but have left point open to try and encourage the bowlers to pitch it up and full and entice the drive.

Michael Ovens: Not sure about England needing to bowl NZ out quickly, I'd say NZ already have enough and England's best chance of any world championship points is to dry up the runs and take no wickets and rely on the rain later and tomorrow to salvage a draw.

Daryl Mitchell didn't make his Test debut until he was 28. This is his 10th Test. He's made his second hundred and currently averages nearly 47. I'm not sure he's the 'type' of cricketer England would pick.

James Anderson starts with a maiden.

There is a little bit of movement for him there, but he was a little bit wide and didn't fully test Daryl Mitchell.

He'll want to hone his line a bit more next over.

  15. new ball

New ballpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 4 June 2022

Unsurprisingly England have taken the new ball immediately.

    They need wickets with it.

James Anderson will get the first opportunity.

    What a celebration!

A gorgeous cover drive brings Daryl Mitchell three and a second Test century.

He runs way past the stumps, jumps and fist pumps in celebration. On the return to Tom Blundell he fist pumps again and roars in excitement.

It has been a superb knock - probably a match-winning one.

The players are making their way out to the middle.

It'll be Stuart Broad with the ball. Daryl Mitchell will resume on 97 and Tom Blundell 90.
