New Zealand's 553 all out represents their highest ever score in England.

It beats their 551-9 declared in 1973 at Lord's.

This Matthew Potts drop cost them 86 runs.

    Double ouch.

England only really have themselves to blame.

    Ouch.

Potts just dangled it wide outside the off stump, making Mitchell reach for it.

A fantastic innings comes to an end. He was dropped on three and has really cashed in.

A terrific effort, and he has turned the game entirely in New Zealand's favour.

    All over!

This is good bowling from Matthew Potts to be fair.

He sees Daryl Mitchell backing away and he throws it wide, causing the Kiwi to stretch and feather one through to Ben Foakes.

Mitchell raises his bat and helmet on the way off, embracing the significant applause from Trent Bridge. He gets numerous handshakes from the England fielders and a solid pat on the back from Joe Root.

    What a superb innings.

Jack Leach is off. Matthew Potts - who has 0-124 - is on.

Despite all Trent Boult's eccentricity, he has got a good eye.

  9. NZ 551-9published at 145 overs

Broad largely opts for the short-ball tactic but it fails to provide the breakthrough England want and need.

This last-wicket stand has added 31 runs from 33 balls now. Useful.

  10. NZ 551-9published at 144.3 overs

Daryl Mitchell plonks the first ball back down the ground for a single and he opts to take it...

That gives Stuart Broad three balls at Trent Boult. What do Broad and England do here?

Is this about getting Mitchell to his 200, or do they have a target in mind?

  12. NZ 550-9published at 144.2 overs

    Oh.

England have actually managed to get the ball changed.

That must be attempt 47 of the day at least.

Michael Gough seems in absolutely no rush.

Surely Trent Boult isn't going to walk down at Leach and get out! Daryl Mitchell will never forgive him!

  14. NZ 550-9published at 144 overs

    FOUR MORE!

Trent Boult creams a straight drive straight through Jack Leach and away to the boundary. That flew.

He gives a little fist pump in celebration.

I need to see the video of him talking us through this innings IMMEDIATELY. It's going to be gold.

  15. NZ 546-9published at 143.5 overs

    Oh, Trent Boult!

Down the pitch and a smash down the ground for four more.

    He's playing a lovely cameo.

Here's how Tim Southee was out too.

A good delivery from Stuart Broad.

  18. NZ 542-9published at 143 overs

    Mitchell 187, Boult 8

A couple more for Daryl Mitchell. He leans on a drive that goes through mid-off and with no fielder there it is a comfortable two. He even walks the second.

Mitchell times another pull and Jonny Bairstow has to do a good sprawling stop to prevent the boundary and it actually ends up costing England no runs. Cricket, eh? Try explaining it to someone who doesn't like it.

Oh, SHOT! A crunching straight drive for four ends the over. Mitchell has played absolutely beautifully.

That was a good short ball but he's timed it to perfection.

As you'd expect for someone on 180.

  20. NZ 536-9published at 142.1 overs

    Crunch!

Decent short ball, around the throat, from Stuart Broad but Daryl Mitchell smashes to the boundary.

    He's up to 181.
