  1. 'A crucial first hour - we are way behind'published at 10:52 British Summer Time 11 June 2022

England bowler James Anderson talking to BBC Sport this morning: "It looks similar to yesterday overhead and we've got a new ball, that is the key thing for us. we've got to try and use that as much as we can. We were in a similar situation at Lord's and we had a new ball the next day and we got six quick wickets - hopefully we can do it again, we know it will be a crucial hour and first session trying to get us back into way because we are way behind at the moment.

"Dropped catches can happen and one drop can mean the confidence can go down a bit. We've got to try and put that behind us - we can't focus on what could have been, we have to focus on what could be.

"Ben wants to be aggressive and we've all brought into that as a bowling and fielding group. That will continue today because we need wickets. It is about finding the right length today."

But don't panic, Susan got a fresh pint - and an apology.

The hero of the day was Susan, though, whose pint was spilled after a Daryl Mitchell six literally landed right in it.

I've spent some time this morning trying to think about what are the odds of this actually happening and it's blowing my mind.

Wait for Matt Potts' reaction, too. Iconic.

New Zealand did bat very well on day one but, as is so often the case with this England team, they didn't help themselves.

Mitchell was dropped on three by Joe Root, who also missed a much harder chance to get rid of Blundell when he was on 47. The same batter then nicked one through the slips that nobody moved an inch for.

    Here's a reminder.

    Good morning!

It's not quite 'England need a miracle' territory yet, but it's pretty close. New Zealand will resume on 318-4, after being put in to bat yesterday morning.

Daryl Mitchell is unbeaten on 81 and Tom Blundell alongside him on 67, having put on 149 for the fifth wicket.

    What will day two bring?
