Here's how Ollie Pope brought up his second Test century.
It's hard to tell if it is joy or relief on his face but it will have meant a lot either way.
Matt Henry goes back of a length again and Ollie Pope works into the on side for a couple. He's up to 114 - he's added 30 since lunch.
England have scored 46 runs in seven overs. It's been great entertainment.

Six!
Matt Henry goes short and Ollie Pope upper cuts - deliberately - over the slip cordon for his second six of the innings.
England are absolutely racing after lunch - 44 runs in half an hour.
Glorious from Ollie Pope.
A back cut brings him four more and that was terrific placement because there was a sweeper on the boundary.
This outfield is rapid too.

I've got a stat for you, from the press box downstairs.
That is Ollie Pope's first hundred north of the Thames.
Pope 102, Root 51
We must have lost about 15 minutes from this game with the umpires checking and changing the ball.
Maybe we need to look at just keeping the case on the field with the umpires, a little revolving door near the stumps, perhaps?
No significant signs of movement with the new (well, 60-over old) ball yet.
New Zealand are getting the ball changed for a third time in the innings.
What is going on?

That is Joe Root's 80th score of 50 or more in Test cricket.
He's converted 26 of those to a 100, including nine of his last 13.

Kevin Ticehurst: Well batted Ollie Pope, hopefully that is the start he needs, there is a good Test player in there. It is all about consistency now!
Lea Boulby: Absolutely buzzing for Ollie Pope, there's definitely a special cricketer in there. Think he's in the wrong place at 3 but if they're willing to give him time to adjust maybe we've got a long term number 3 for years to come. Well done kid... make it a big one!
Bob Hawkins: Ollie Pope’s arrived… a little bit of luck but he’s arrived.
Two singles followed that Joe Root boundary that brought up his latest landmark.
England have added 33 runs in just over 20 minutes in this session.

That's classic Joe Root. Looking in such command of his game.
Oh how he loves batting at Trent Bridge and how the crowd adores watching him too.
Another Test match half-century for Joe Root.
It is his 54th in the format, to go with his 26 centuries.
You wouldn't bet against him making that 27 in that session.
What. A. Player.
Oofft Joe Root, textbook. He takes a big step forward and a flowing drive races away to the boundary.
Another gorgeous shot, and a pulled single follows, means he's up to 46.
Ollie Pope was dropped on 37 last night and he's made New Zealand pay.
Daryl Mitchell made England pay and it's nice to see an England batter make the opposition regret their mistakes.

Credit to the decision to put him at three. A brave call given he's never batted there for Surrey and he's responded really well after Lord's. That must be a great feeling.

Trent Bridge to their feet! A huge hug from Joe Root. A pat on the chest. And well played Ollie Pope. Just his second Test hundred and it's been a long time coming.
A second Test ton for Ollie Pope!
The Surrey batter leans on a drive and it races off the square and picks up a couple that takes him to the landmark.
There is a lot of relief and joy in the celebration from Pope. His place has been in serious doubt at times in the last few years due to injuries - he's twice had shoulder issues - and a lack of form.
Stokes and McCullum have shown faith and slotted him at three - somewhere he's never batted for England or Surrey before - and he's started to repay it.
Is this the start of him making that position his own?

I seem to be the best at the commentator's curse so I'm not going to talk too much yet...
Ollie Pope is two away.
He gets a bit of width from Matt Henry and he edges into the ground and over the slip cordon and away to the third boundary.
Will it come this over?
