    Lead by 284

Round the wicket from Ben Stokes this time and Trent Boult backs away and smashes over the covers for another boundary.

    This is pretty average bowling.

Brendon McCullum has lowered his glasses on the balcony. He looks a bit twitchy, perhaps for the first time this series.

That was like a first serve swat. He has a really good eye. He's belted it through mid-off.

  3. NZ 266-9published at 82.2 overs

    Lead by 280

Short from Ben Stokes again and Trent Boult swats it - from above his head - through mid-off for four.

Boult is up to eight off eight. All these runs are extremely useful.

  4. NZ 262-9published at 82.1 overs

    Lead by 276

Ben Stokes goes short again and Trent Boult flat bats through mid-on for a couple more.

  6. NZ 260-9published at 82 overs

    Lead by 274

Full from Stuart Broad to end the over and Daryl Mitchell can only drive straight to Zak Crawley at mid-on.

England and Ben Stokes will get to bowl at Trent Boult. Can they wrap it up?

It feels like they need to soon if they want to win this game.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Mitchellpublished at 81.3 overs

    NZ 260-9; lead by 274

Back-to-back boundaries for Daryl Mitchell and he continues to be England's nemesis.

He crunches a pull away, before an inside edge flies just past leg stump and away to the boundary too.

He deserves a little bit of luck.

Boult now has the most runs batting at number 11 in Test cricket. He was tied with Muttiah Muralitharan on 623. He now has 625. James Anderson is a just a little behind on 618.

  9. NZ 252-9published at 81 overs

    Lead by 266

England opt against taking the new ball. Interesting decision.

Daryl Mitchell takes a single down to long-off, leaving Trent Boult with two balls to face.

He works the final ball for a couple through mid-wicket, which means he's the most successful number 11 in Test history.

Let's hope we don't see Jimmy trying to pass him later...

There's a question on whether Broad should have started instead of Leach.

Stuart Broad persists with the round the wicket, short-ball angle to Trent Boult.

He's able to let a few go by, behind his back, with ease.

There's a brief appeal - and a fair bit of interest and disbelief from Stuart Broad - for a nick behind, but England opt against the review as Michael Gough shakes his head.

The new ball is available if England want it.

Jamieson is walking. It must have been a fine one because Stuart Broad was only half interested in that. He turned round gently.

  14. wicket

    BROAD STRIKES AGAIN!

It's similar to the previous wicket with Stuart Broad bowling round the wicket, targeting the head of the New Zealand batter Kyle Jamieson.

He tries to take on the pull but is too late on it and a thin edge goes through to Ben Foakes, who takes a good catch half-diving to his right.

England are one away from having a chase.

I reckon the only result that is possible by 15:20 (BST) is an England defeat, Ben.

    Let's not hope for that.

Loving listening to the commentary, it's keeping me company as I lie in bed having finally succumbed to COVID. Hopefully a win will make the day feel better.

More yelps and scream of catch from England as Kyle Jamieson miscues a pull, but it lands in the middle of nowhere.

One over until the new ball.

Matt Henry had been floored a few times by Ben Stokes, but he generally played the short ball quite well before that dismissal.

  19. NZ 245-8published at 78 overs

    CATCH IT!

Brilliant from Stuart Broad, who is cheered and clapped by the crowd as he bounds to the crease, as he fires one into the ribs of Kyle Jamieson.

It is in the air and it is just begging to be grabbed but it evades short leg and it short of mid-wicket.

If England had had a short mid-wicket in there it would have gone straight to him.

Jamieson won't like this. With a bad back, he'll be tested with a short ball. And you do need your back to get away from it.
