Overton begins his latest spell with three dot balls.
My colleague Tom Mallows informs me the rain radar is suggesting rain is about 10 minutes away.

The spin from both ends was far too easy for New Zealand. Joe Root leaked far too many runs.
The Joe Root experiment is over. Time for Jamie Overton, who seems to be fine after taking a tumble earlier on.
But first, it's time for drinks.

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell's partnerships this series have been 50 and 195 at Lord's, 236 and 45 at Trent Bridge and 59 so far here.
That's 550 runs in five partnerships.
Plenty of flight and decent line from Jack Leach, before one which is angled into the leg stump is flicked off the pads for a single.
That successful review aside, which was a poor delivery from Root, there isn't too much from the spinners which is troubling New Zealand right now.

There must have been some kind of noise for it to be given and for England to all go up. Foakes was certain.
NZ 182-5
Decision overturned! Dismay for England and Joe Root. They were convinced they heard something but UltraEdge shows no spike. Having said that, Blundell also reviewed instantly.
As we were.

England went up straight away with an appeal but Blundell reviewed it immediately too. It was a very poor ball.
NZ 182-6
Now then! Joe Root, with a short and wide delivery, has Tom Blundell caught behind. England are certain it's out. And the umpire agrees.
Blundell reviews.

England are in danger of throwing away their advantage by persisting with spin from both ends. Batsmen happily building an innings with no threat from the bowlers.

Daryl Mitchell has held New Zealand together. If he hadn't been playing, England would've run right through them.

Oh, he has played that beautifully. He just planted it there.
What a way to reach his half-century. He is having a wonderful series.
NZ 178-5
And it gets a little more eventful as Daryl Mitchell launches Jack Leach for six down the ground, bringing up his half-century. Brutal.

That looked like it could be quite nasty for Jamie Overton. You don't like seeing the big fellas go down like that.
There's a shout for lbw. Tom Blundell was quite far down the pitch but it hit him low on the pad. Jack Leach really wants it. Ben Foakes is hopping on the spot behind the stumps.
But Stokes opts not to review.
Jamie Overton, chasing down the ball up towards fine leg, is holding his hamstring as he takes a tumble. He's staying on the field, though.
An eventful over so far!

This partnership is building nicely. England would love a wicket before the new ball.
Blundell 24, Mitchell 46
Short, wide and there to be hit from Joe Root. Mitchell hangs back in his crease and carves through backward point, where Jamie Overton does well to save one run.
These two Kiwis, once again in this series, are frustrating England right now.

It's been a sluggish day. It couldn't be more of a contrast from that day five at Trent Bridge.
