It's quite blustery and humid out there. I think I'd have bowled Ben Stokes on instead of Joe Root.
I know they're thinking of the new ball but there's still 14 overs until then!
Just a two-over spell from Stuart Broad as Joe Root returns. I'm surprised Ben Stokes still hasn't turned his arm today.
It all seems a little subdued out there as New Zealand help themselves to three more in an uneventful over.

This just shows the value of a good spinner on the first day or two. It might not turn but if they can be consistent, get some flight and bounce, they have such a big role to play.
Leach today has allowed the game to keep moving on nicely and allow the seamers to rotate from the other end in shorter spells.
A bit of hesitation between the Kiwi pair as they scamper through for a single to backward square leg.
Daryl Mitchell perseveres with the reverse sweep but once again can't quite connect. He is then struck on the hip as he gets down low, looking to hoick Jack Leach into the leg side.
A good over by the England spinner.

Don't let Graham (16:19) scare you everyone. I am also in York, raced out to get my washing in and it's bone dry out there. That's how patchy the weather is, so if there is a stoppage it might be brief.

No instant impact of the change in ball as Mitchell prods away Broad's remaining two deliveries.

Ben Ellis: Is there any wonder why England's over rates are so pathetic? They try and get the ball changed every hour!
Shot! Stuart Broad goes fuller and Tom Blundell effortlessly punches it down to the mid-off boundary. Timed and middled.
The ball goes through the ring again and England are finally getting the change they've so desperately wanted. On comes the official with the briefcase of replacement balls.
Broad raises both hands and tamely punches the air in delight.

Rogue shower just arrived in Barnsley. Could be heading your way....

Daryl Mitchell, not for the first time, goes for the reverse sweep to Jack Leach. This time it bounces once and into the hands of slip. It fools some folk in the crowd into thinking it's a catch.
Mitchell then plays a conventional sweep which is solidly hit to the boundary.
England are racing through these overs which means a) the over-rate is improving and b) we're now 16 overs away from the new ball.

The conditions have changed so quickly. It was glorious this morning.
Stuart Broad throws everything into each delivery. It's a maiden but an over which does not put an end to the Mitchell and Blundell show.
Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow seek a change in the ball. Umpire Marais Erasmus places it through the ring and turns down the request.
It's looking a little more gloomy out there.

It's been an interesting period of play. The seamers kept things very tight and they were driving the pace of the game.
There have been eight quick overs or so since tea. I like the idea of a quick burst of Broad before the new ball.
Don't do this to us, Graham. Ignorance is bliss.
Stuart Broad is warming up.

Pouring down in York
Graham
Every couple of deliveries, a trumpeter treats the Leeds crowd to a little tune and is met with huge cheers.
It seems to have woken Headingley up, with chants of 'England' ringing around the stadium.

Not the first lucky ricochet we have had against NZ. Any chance of replaying that one?
Chris, Somerset
Here is the moment Henry Nicholls was bizarrely dismissed after his shot deflects off team-mate Daryl Mitchell's bat and into the hands of Alex Lees.
Extraordinary.
