What is Joe Root doing there?
Tim Southee edges through to where first slip would be and Root fields on the boundary.
Saved a boundary I suppose.

Ross Matthewman: What do England have against just bowling line and length? All these bizarre little schemes and plans - bowling spin from both ends/a barrage of bouncers - have been completely unsuccessful.

New Zealand scored 40 runs in the first 17 overs. All that work and discipline - why don't they just do that again?
Ben Foakes thinks Daryl Mitchell has feathered it through down leg as he takes a smart catch.
Ben Stokes comes for a chat as they consider the review (we've been here before) but the skipper declines.
It looked a bit optimistic from here.

That four brought up the 50 partnership in just 6.2 overs. Jamie Overton's last two overs have gone for 13 and 14 runs respectively.
Great shot from Tim Southee, as he powers a fuller ball from Overton through the off-side for another boundary.

Jamie Overton bowls short - again - and Tim Southee, who knew was was coming, flays it away for four.

These two could be dangerous now Mitchell has his hundred - especially if he keeps getting balls like that.
Well, that got the treatment it deserved.
A low full toss from Jamie Overton is smashed away by Daryl Mitchell for another four.

That made a wonderful sound off the bat. Well played, Daryl Mitchell. What a series.

I've been watching Daryl Mitchell for three Test matches. I don't think he's mis-hit a pull shot in that time.
A single brings for Tim Southee brings Daryl Mitchell on strike and he is not going to turn down that opportunity.
It is another short one from Jamie Overton which Mitchell gleefully pulls away for four.
England getting a bit ragged as we edge towards the interval.

This short-ball tactic... we're not going to say I told you so are we, Daniel?
Nothing wrong with that from Tim Southee.
He absolutely belts Jamie Overton through the covers for another boundary.
