Daryl Mitchell happy to keep sweeping Jack Leach, but he is only able to glove the left-arm spinner's first ball for a single round the corner. That would have been a good shout for lbw had Mitchell not got something on that.
Here's the lbw Mitchell survived earlier.

John Petrie: It's almost pre-ordained we will have a 300 last innings target to chase. The way this series has gone it could never have been a quiet end.
There's a hint of Tim Bresnan about Jamie Overton. Barrel-chested, shirt a little more snug fitting than his team-mates. Bowls a heavy ball.
He attempts to go short to Daryl Mitchell, but his fourth delivery is so short it's signalled as wide. Overton looks at his spikes and then pitch where his foot is landing.

Karl Owen: Why didn’t Phil Tufnell pull the DRS plug out again this morning?? We would have had Mitchell out!

It must have been in the air because there were a lot of arms raised. It would have been a fantastic reaction catch from Pope.
A half chance as Tom Blundell manages to steer one off Jack Leach and is almost caught by Ollie Pope, who is under the lid, on the crease.

That's a great shot. He hit it down and with power. He's a good puller.
Daryl Mitchell pulls Jamie Overton's third ball for a powerful four. Jonny Bairstow was in pursuit but not even Usain Bolt at his peak would have caught up with that one.

There’s one New Zealand fan in a retro beige team shirt sat amongst the locals below the pavilion. He whooped in delight as that replay was shown on the big screen to the amusement of everyone around him.

Jack Leach was convinced that was out. But the ball-tracking shows it was going over the stumps. It struck Daryl Mitchell just above the knee roll but he was quite far forward.
Leach grimaces and puts the palms of his hands over his face. Ollie Pope gives him a cuddle.

It could be high. It straightens. There might be a bit too much bounce in it.
Jack Leach strikes Daryl Mitchell on the pad with one that straightens. Given out on the field but Mitchell immediately reviews.
Here's that lovely swivel pull from Tom Blundell off Jamie Overton from a little earlier.
Overton bowls the first over after drinks but the New Zealand pair are happy to farm the strike. Blundell declines to chase a short wider one from the Surrey seamer off his penultimate delivery.

Here’s the birthday cake Vic Marks has just been presented live on TMS, albeit a day late.
Time for a bit of liquid refreshment.

It was pitched on about middle and leg and it turned and bounced. It's the first one we've really seen do that.
Hello. Third ball of Jack Leach's over has a bit of everything. A bit of drift, good revs on the ball, and it spins away from Tom Blundell's bat. The delivery beats the edge, misses the stumps and wicketkeeper Sam Billings and races away for four byes.
