  1. NZ 176-5published at 57.0 overs

Matthew Potts gets plenty of encouragement - via a couple of celebrappeals from Joe Root and Zak Crawley from the slip cordon - with some challenging lengths to Tom Blundell.

Potts nips one away from the defensive prod of Blundell with his fourth ball, then repeats the trick next ball.

I’ve just peered along the balcony where the TV camera operators sit. They’re wrapped up in hoodies, coats and blankets. It’s cold.

Excellent observation, Daniel. Has he escaped the full village cricketer look with that tight-fitting under skin to avoid the bare arms keeping wicket? Or has that, in fact, made him more village? Kind of nouveau village style.

Stuart Broad is on the money. Another maiden.

Daniel Seal: Didn't they have any long sleeve shirts in the club shop for Sam Billings?

  5. NZ 176-5published at 54.0 overs

Fine margins in Test cricket, and Matthew Potts has just offered the odd hittable ball so far as he settles into his rhythm. He slightly over pitches his four delivery to Tom Blundell who confidently drives him off the front foot for four.

  8. NZ 172-5published at 53.0 overs

Two dots from Stuart Broad gives him a maiden first up.

Sam Billings looks chirpy behind the stumps. His pearly whites dazzling as he grins. Lots of encouragement from the Kent keeper.

It's carrying further now than it did earlier on in the game. That was a lovely first over from Broad.

Ooof. A beauty from Stuart Broad with his fourth delivery as he beats the outside edge of Daryl Mitchell's bat. Just a little bit of swing and nip off the pitch from Broad.

If I was a cynic, I may say it seems surprising that Foakes tested positive after having an abysmal Test and getting injured which ruled him out for the rest of it. It's a good job I'm not a cynic then isn't it?

We came off for rain last night with one ball remaining of a Matthew Potts over. The Durham seamer goes through some loosening exercises, but his first delivery slides on to the pads of Tom Blundell who flicks it away for four.

Forecast looks set fair for today. There might be the odd shower, but we should pretty much have an uninterrupted day of cricket in Leeds.

The flags are flapping in the stiff and bracing breeze blowing across the ground.

So Sam Billings is here. He has just been shaking hands with England bowling coach Jon Lewis on the outfield.

He was spotted arriving at England's team hotel at about 1am last night after a long drive up the M1.

It was nothing compared to his dash across Australia for his surprise Test debut, however.

First things first - England are a man down.

Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has been ruled out of the final two days of the third Test against New Zealand after testing positive for Covid-19.

Foakes, 29, did not keep wicket at Headingley on Saturday because of a stiff back, with Jonny Bairstow taking the gloves. England say after further medical assessment he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Kent's Sam Billings will now replace Foakes as a Covid-19 substitute, having driven up to Leeds last night. Billings has played one Test for England - playing the final Ashes Test last winter.

Morning Richie, morning Tony, morning everyone.

Finally poised at Headingley isn't it?

England are on top, but New Zealand still in this. Ben Stokes has to get his sums right.

Time to trot out that old cricketing cliche of the first hour being integral to how this might all pan out.

Welcome to day four of the third Test.
