  3. SA 45-4published at 18 overs

    Marizanne Kapp replaces Lee.

She is a fine, fine player and can certainly bat, despite bowling being her main strength. This is going to be a tough ask for her but she is a fighter - she loves a battle and will be more than up for it.

    Lee lbw b Bell 0 (SA 45-4)

Oooooh, umpire's call! But it stands and Lauren Bell has her first international wicket! A lovely moment for the debutant who is embraced by her teammates.

A big wicket, Lizelle Lee is a dangerous player.

  5. South Africa reviewpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

Lauren Bell also has her first Test wicket ... but Lizelle Lee reviews.

A hooping inswinger crashing into the front pad and it just looks out. I think Lee's in trouble here...

Lauren Bell back into the attack in place of Issy Wong, as it looks like Heather Knight is planning to rotate her newbies with short, sharp spells.

  9. SA 44-3published at 17 overs

That wicket brings the big hitter Lizelle Lee to the crease. She is an aggressive opener in white ball cricket but will have a much different role to fulfil today.

Will she use attack as the best mode of defence? She starts by blocking out the remainder of Sciver's over as the all-rounder completes a maiden.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.1 overs

Goodall lbw Sciver 10 (SA 44-3)

Three reds, crashing into middle stump! Another big breakthrough for England as they continue to pile on the pressure.

Lara Goodall was batting defiantly but Nat Sciver breaks the resistance. England's dominant morning continues.

Ooooh! Nat Sciver strikes Lara Goodall on the pad, huge appeal, umpire Sue is unmoved.

Heather Knight sends it upstairs. Looks a good shout to me.

  12. SA 44-2published at 16 overs

Another fine over from Issy Wong who has taken very comfortably to Test cricket. She looks perfectly at home and it's great to see.

England's slip cordon has had to change with Anya Shrubsole retiring. Sophie Ecclestone has replaced her in there so it is a big upgrade for her now she's a senior player.

Nat Sciver resumes after the drinks break.

Sune Luus drives down the ground for two as South Africa begin their rebuilding task after the two wickets in the first over.

  16. drinks break

    SA 39-2published at 14 overs

England firmly in control after the first hour as Issy Wong on debut has started with figures of 1-7 from her first three overs. A remarkable introduction to Test cricket.

It's time for a drink as the clouds have eased at Taunton and the sun is shining, unfortunately in stark contrast to Headingley.

  17. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 27 June 2022

It's been a fine start from England with the ball, which all started with Kate Cross' early breakthrough.

  18. SA 38-2published at 12 overs

Frustration at Headingley, then, as we have to wait a little longer for day five to begin but we will keep you updated here with all the news as we have it.

Meanwhile at Taunton the captain Sune Luus is at the crease after that wicket of Laura Wolvaardt.

This is a big partnership for South Africa, and it will be a challenge for them as England are buzzing in the field now after Wong's wicket.

    Sciver starts with a maiden.
