That is a fantastic delivery. Look at the smile on her face - the girls have had to chase her down the ground.

She is a big game player. That is what Issy Wong brings to your team.

    Wolvaardt b Wong 16 (SA 38-2)

A first Test wicket for Issy Wong and it's a HUGE one!

Full, a hint of swing and Laura Wolvaardt can't resist the temptation to drive but the ball nips between bat and pad and crashes into the stumps!

And the celebration tells you everything about just how big that wicket is for England. Not only because it's Wong's first but because it's Wolvaardt - the prize scalp in this South Africa line up.

Just like that really - you just have to hope you miss it.

That was a jaffa from Kate Cross. Georgia Elwiss is applauding next to me. How do you play that?

  6. SA 36-1published at 11 overs

Ooh, lovely. Kate Cross just overpitches and Lara Goodall strokes it down the ground for four.

Cross follows it up with a beauty that nips across the left hander and beats her outside edge. Goodall nods at the bowler with respect and probably some relief that she didn't edge it.

I just had to do a quick search for Issy Wong's exact age.

She was born in 2002. Cry.

Issy Wong just didn't really seem to change her line between the left and right hander there.

  9. SA 32-1published at 10 overs

Laura Wolvaardt clips four runs very finely off her legs as Issy Wong just drifts down the leg side.

Not quite at full pace yet, perhaps a few understandable nerves, but she is beaming and clearly delighted with her chance. For readers who may not know much about Wong, she is 20 years old, quick, aggressive and can also give it a proper whack with the bat (yes, I have been on the receiving end of that).

We could be in for a treat here.

One debutant replaced by another - Issy Wong takes over from Lauren Bell.

If you ask any players they would want more Test cricket but it is the grounds and the days that they are played on.

  13. SA 27-1published at 9 overs

A false shot from Lara Goodall outside the off stump draws gasps from England's slip cordon. That was far too wide to chase.

She smiles wryly in acknowledgement of her error before pushing the last ball of the over nicely down the ground for a single.

Jacob Wadsworth: Lauren Bell around the wicket to the left hander, surely? She'd be a nightmare to face with this amount of swing

Lauren Bell just got her length wrong there and Laura Wolvaardt will capitalise on deliveries like that. She was well in control of that shot.

  16. SA 26-1published at 8 overs

Laura Wolvaardt makes the most of some width from Lauren Bell as she cuts gloriously past point for four runs. Sublime.

Bell completes her fourth over. This will be a challenge for the young seamer from now on - she won't be used to bowling spells much longer than this.

As a domestic cricketer I want to play some red-ball cricket and I want to experience multi-day cricket. There needs to be an appetite for Test cricket at international level though - it can't just be England and Australia that play it though.

There is also the problem that there are only six professional players in each region. I work in the NHS so I can't be using leave every week to play a multi-day game. I expect this country will lead the way in multi-day cricket in the future.

  18. SA 21-1published at 7 overs

Kate Cross nips one past Lara Goodall's outside edge before the batter tucks one off her legs to get off strike.

Another miserly over for Cross, just the single from it.

This is England women's 100th Test match - the first country to reach that milestone.

  19. SA 20-1published at 6 overs

    Wolvaardt 6, Goodall 2

A full delivery from Lauren Bell is driven gloriously down the ground by Laura Wolvaardt for two runs.

There aren't many more pleasing batters to watch in the women's game.

I like Lauren Bell as a match-up to Laura Wolvaardt because she is an off-side dominant player so bringing the ball back into her is a good match-up.
