The best over the innings so far, and Chris Jordan has kept is simple and intelligent bowling to get that wicket. Deepak Hooda tried to help it on its but because it is an off cutter it doesn't have the pace to go over the fielder. England trying to wrestle back some momentum after a good start by India.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.4 overs

    Hooda c Mills b Jordan 33 (Ind 89-3)

Chris Jordan is into the attack and strikes straight away!

It is a slower ball that does the trick, with Deepak Hooda falling into the trap and helping the ball around the corner and straight into the grateful arms of Tymal Mills.

  3. Postpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

Rohit Sharma made a fast start before edging through to Jos Butler off Moen Ali for 24.

Not an ideal start for Matt Parkinson. People talk about the pace he bowls and how that might be an asset in international cricket. It will be interesting to see how the India players go about playing him, and if they are able to take him down.

  5. Ind 86-2published at 8 overs

    Hooda 32, Suryakumar 21

Not the best start from Matt Parkinson as his first delivery is cut by Suryakumar Yadav just backward of point for four.

He plays an almost identical shot later in the over, expertly picking out the gap in the field.

Deepak Hooda is now averaging over 100 in T20 internationals.

Admittedly this is only his sixth match.

  7. Ind 75-2published at 7 overs

Suryakumar Yadav gets away with a top edge towards fine leg that falls short of Matt Parkinson. Nine off the over.

India are continuing to motor along, with the run rate nudging above 10.

That's a typical Suryakumar Yadav shot. He just hits it off the hip for six so easily.

  9. 6 runs

    Ind 72-2published at 6.2 overs

Tymal Mills comes into the attack - and that's brilliant technique and timing from Suryakumar Yadav as he just helps a short delivery around the corner fine for another maximum.

Deepak Hooda got a hundred in his last T20 international against Ireland so is in really good form. Left-arm seamer Reece Topley wasn't that far from the off stump, but Deepak is batting smartly and created the angle to play the shot. He is in form and it also looks like a really good batting pitch so far.

Deepak Hooda scored 104 from 57 balls against Ireland last week. He made 47 not out against them a few days before that and hit 59 against Derbyshire in a warm-up last Friday.

    He's in good nick.

  12. Ind 66-2published at 6 overs

Deepak Hooda is gunning for Reece Topley.

He powers one boundary over mid-wicket, cuts a horribly short and wide delivery over point for another, then ends the over with a late cut down to third man.

16 off the over - Hooda has scored 29 from 11 deliveries.

After the early cheers and flag waving I can confirm this is a largely India-supporting crowd.

  14. Ind 50-2published at 5 overs

Suryakumar Yadav sweeps his first delivery for four to bring up the India 50.

The loss of those two early wickets has not stemmed their momentum - the run rate is up to 9.68.

This is a massive wicket because Ishan Kishan can be a dangerous player. Moeen Ali bowled it a little flatter. That's what happens when you don't get on top of the bounce. Matt Parkinson with a good catch.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.5 overs

    Kishan c Parkinson b Moeen 8 (Ind 46-2)

    Moeen Ali strikes again!

Deepak Hooda takes a single to bring Ishan Kishan on strike. He may still have been suffering from that blow to the ribs the previous over as he top-edges a sweep and Matt Parkinson takes the catch.

  17. 6 runs

    Ind 45-1published at 4.2 overs

    Here we go!

Deepak Hooda is wasting no time as he dances down the track and smacks Moeen Ali over mid-wicket for successive sixes.

That's the ribcage, ouch. An actual rib-tickler. That is painful. Reece Topley gets that extra bounce and that can be a little deceptive. Ishan Kishan doesn't want to get on the front foot too much. He's a typical T20 player reluctant to go forward. If you go short to Ishan it's a risk, because he picks up the length so well. You are better, as a bowler, trying to get him to drive if you want his wicket.

  19. ouch!

    Ind 33-1published at 4 overs

There's a bit of life in the pitch and Ishan Kishan catches one right in the ribs. That looked painful.

There is a slight delay as Kishan gets some treatment but will be ok to continue.

  20. Ind 33-1published at 3.5 overs

    Great shot, great fielding.

Ishan Kishan whips a pull into the on-side but Harry Brook does brilliantly well to pull the ball back from the boundary one-handed.

Kishan then goes for a similar shot and top-edges the ball into the air, but it lands safely and India can scamper through for two.
