  1. Ind 3-1published at 2 overs

    Target 216

Virat Kohli gets off the mark with a single out to deep square leg. He needs some runs today.

There's a delay as Reece Topley thuds one into the top of Rohit Sharma's bat as he looks to pull away. It hit the splice of the bat and Rohit needs a new one. Four spares come out and the India skipper has a good look at them all before deciding.

A really good start from England. The required run-rate is up to 11.83 an over.

A wild swipe from Rishabh Pant. It's too late to review it, he waited for the timer to go down!

He's given out caught behind but it's brushed his leg, hasn't it? I don't think Topley was appealing for lbw as he was running through to the wicketkeeper.

After all that there was an inside edge on to his leg so it was the right decision. A strange way to go but England will take it.

    Big wicket!

Rishabh Pant goes for a big heave over mid-wicket but is too early on the shot.

There's a bit confusion because we're not sure if it is caught behind or lbw - which was probably a bit high - but Pant spends too long discussing whether to review with Rohit Sharma and runs out of time.

Replays show that there was definitely an inside edge, into his back leg, so he would have been out regardless.

I like Rishabh Pant opening. He's been moved up and down the order. He's such a dangerous player and you don't where he is going to hit it. He is still trying to figure out his tempo for this format of the game.

  5. Ind 2-0published at 1 over

    Target 216

Oh! David Willey gets Rishabh Pant pushing and prodding in defence and a little bit of shape sends it past the outside edge.

Pant gets off the mark with a nudge off his hips through square leg for a single.

A very good start for England. That will be pushing up the required run-rate already.

  6. Ind 1-0published at 0.2 overs

    Target 216

Rohit Sharma gets off the mark straight away with a push down to mid-off before Rishabh Pant defends into the covers.

England have Moeen Ali in at slip for David Willey. He'll be looking to find a little bit of movement.

It'll be David Willey first up with the ball for England and again Rishabh Pant will open alongside Rohit Sharma.

Eoin Morgan is part of the Sky coverage today and he's just pointed to the fact that 46% of the balls that India were slower balls in that first innings.

It is hard to defend at Trent Bridge.

Will England do it? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no, India will win.

    Thanks Timothy.

There are always questions marks over Dawid Malan because he perhaps doesn't have the power of some of England's other options, but he rarely lets them down.

Would he make your side for the T20 World Cup in October?

    You can pick that here.

Dawid Malan was eventually dismissed after he skied one.

Anyway, I'm off for a quick lolly ice. My colleague Callum Matthews will talk you through the India chase.

Liam Livingstone, who finished unbeaten with 42 off 29 balls, hit four sixes (and no fours) in his knock. He targeted that shorter boundary effectively.

Between innings the Commonwealth Games baton is going around the boundary edge as part of the relay on its way to Birmingham.

The Games start on 28 July with cricket featuring for the first time since 1998.

Dawid Malan's knock was pretty handy for England. As they use to say on Big Brother, Dawid here's your best bits...

India have gone in with quite a few changes today, particularly in the bowling department. Umran Malik has got to learn that while pace is his strength, he has to be careful because it can also be a batter's friend.

I wouldn't be using him at the death. I would be bowling him at new batters and then definitely the first over of the innings because there are no warm up deliveries for the batters.

I would encourage him to develop a slower ball - he doesn't need two, just one, and even at 130kmph that is a huge difference from his stock delivery.

India's players don't seem too disappointed with that as they walk off. As Andy Zaltzman says England's second highest T20 total at home, but there's a sense it still might not be enough.

This a very, very good total from England after a little stumble when Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets in the 17th over.

    Jordan run out (Jadeja/Pant) 11 (Eng 216-7)

Chris Jordan hits the final ball to deep midwicket, there's only a single really but they set off for a second. Jordan is unable to make it back to the striker's end and is well short of his ground when the bails are whipped off.

  19. 6 runs

Umran Malik is whacked over the short boundary for six by Chris Jordan.

Chris Jordan with a heave of the bat to Umran Malik and the ball goes through the vacant fine leg region off the inside edge.
