I get that Roy, Root, Bairstow and Stokes have a lot of credit in the bank but when their runs have dried up and the likes of Phil Salt is scoring hundreds and then not getting his chance against the big boys, it must be very demoralising!!!

Down the ground this time!
Ben Stokes liked this. He holds the pose on his drive as the ball reaches the boundary.

I don't think Mohammed Shami has bowled badly, but by his standards he has not quite got the movement he got in the first two games. A little bit of seam movement, but not a great deal. He has not quite hit his straps.
Crunch! If that last one was clever touch from Roy, this is all brute force from Ben Stokes.
Mohammed Shami is going the distance.
Roy 24, Stokes 13
Oh that's good from Jason Roy who is looking much more like his normal self. He charges down to Siraj but cleverly guides a yorker to the fence with good touch.
He's timed it so well that just a checked shot goes into the ground and loops up over the fielder at point.

Sean Bulpitt: I don't see a place for both Livingstone and Moeen in this team. Having Stokes and Buttler in at four & five just doesn't fit. Definitely missing an extra batsmen now Morgan has gone. Brook, Malan or Salt would provide better balance.
Mike Bell: England managing to get their ducks in a row again today. Which to be clear, is not a good thing.
Roy 20, Stokes 12
This game is being played to the backing track of India supporter's horns. Jason Roy and Ben Stokes are still looking to attack. Hardik Pandya, who looks like something from 2055 with his white-rimmed shades, is warming up.

That reached the boundary before you could say 'Jason Roy'. It was that well timed.
Shot!
This may be the best of the morning. Banged in by Mohammed Shami, absolutely munched by Jason Roy through mid-wicket.
The second less so...
The first over went very well for England...
This is relentless action.
Ben Stokes gets his second boundary in the over by flicking Siraj over a leaping fielder at mid-wicket. The India fans, as vocal as ever in the stands, were excited but Chahal didn't really get near it.

Georgie Heath: English fans: “no Bumrah we are safe”. Siraj: “hold my beer”.
Jacob Wadsworth: Lovely, how ironic that the day after finals day, two of Yorkshire's "unavailable" players have both fallen for ducks.
Ben Stokes is batting like he does in a Test match these days - charging down the wicket and trying to hit the fast bowler over his head. He clunks this effort, only getting two.
Much better a ball later. He eases Siraj through the covers for four.

I love my job. I go to places I might not otherwise get to go. I get the best seat in the house and get paid for watching the sport I love. Other times, I have to grin and bear it.
Roy 13, Stokes 1
It's really frenetic for a Sunday morning. Ben Stokes gets off the mark with a risky single, the ball hurled a mile over the stumps from mid-on. A ball later another throw flies over wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's head.
Settle down, everyone. Please...

It is a 50 over game, not a 20 over one. Ben Stokes has a lot of time, but is swinging his bat at everything.
Ben Stokes is in after two overs. England's fearsome top-order is looking shaky once again.
Jason Roy inside-edges perilously close to his stumps...

What a delivery from Mohammed Siraj. Back of a length and that hint of movement enough to just get the outside edge.
