  1. Ind 42-3published at 9 overs

Suryakumar Yadav crunches Topley past point for a sizzling boundary, but the bowler responds by getting the India number five to wave away just outside off stump.

Topley is 3-15 off five overs, superb. I'm still unsure about his hair cut, but I'm just jealous.

Great bit of bowling. Topley can't do anything wrong at the minute.

It was a great length and great line.

    Kohli c Buttler b Topley 17 (Ind 38-3)

    The big one!

Great stuff from Reece Topley again, he gets Virat to prod away outside his off stump and Jos Buttler snaffles a straight forward chance.

Topley's joyous celebrations are becoming a feature of the season and after his injury problems you cannot blame him.

  4. Ind 38-2published at 8 overs

Pant lets a couple outside off stump go - still we await the fireworks.

  5. Ind 37-2published at 7.1 overs

Topley sends down a quiet over with just two from it, but then David Willey's first delivery is flipped away with aplomb by Kohli, off his pads towards the building site.

Reece Topley made sure Shikhar Dhawan didn't get too comfortable, sending him back for just a single.

  7. Ind 31-2published at 6 overs

Hang on to your hats, Pant is on strike but he's off the mark with a mere nudge into the leg side.

  8. Ind 29-2published at 5.4 overs

Virat Kohli gets on top of the bounce of Willey's first delivery to smack a boundary square on the off side, before stepping across and flicking one off his pads for another.

It was a bit of a push to a full-ish delivery. He is extremely disappointing. It is a huge break for England.

That puts this game in England's favour. India have Mohammed Shami at eight. It is all on these next batters.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5 overs

    Rohit c Root b Topley 17 (Ind 21-2)

    Gone!

Rohit pushes at one slanting across him and Joe Root, the only slip, takes a comfortable catch low down.

Rohit flattered to deceive again, and now here is Rishabh Pant striding to the crease.

  12. Ind 21-1published at 4.5 overs

Topley drops short and Rohit rocks back, pulling him over mid-wicket for his fourth boundary to a cacophony from the horns now making a noisy comeback in the stands. They're not to everyone's taste but I love them.

  13. Ind 16-1published at 4 overs

Kohli is under way with a nudge off his hip to fine leg.

David Willey does not look too happy with the world, chuntering to a fielder as he stalks back but that was a quiet over .

  14. Ind 13-1published at 3 overs

Kohli plays it circumspectly for the rest of the over, as Jason Roy nurses a scrape from when he took that catch quite low down.

Dhawan sliced it. It wasn't off the outside edge. It wasn't really a half-volley.

He has been nowhere near his best in this series.

  16. wicket

    Dhawan c Roy b Topley 1 (Ind 13-1)

Topley's fine return to the England side continues as he gets Shikhar Dhawan to slice it behind square to Jason Roy, who has to come forward to pouch it.

Utter delight for England, but here's Virat Kohli. This could be one of those see-saw chases, methinks.

  17. Ind 13-0published at 2 overs

Rohit's motoring already, pushing Willey past the diving Jason Roy at point to send the ball skimming to the boundary in front of the massive party stand at Old Trafford.

England made it to the top of the ODI rankings 10 years ago with scores of 260 odd. They did have Anderson, Broad, Swann, Bresnan and Finn bowling though!

    Paul, Surrey.

  19. Ind 9-0published at 1.3 overs

As ever with this England side, it's lefties galore at the top as David Willey takes the second over.

Lovely stuff from from Rohit, driving past cover point for his second boundary. He looks in touch already but they've given him a couple of gifts.

That was a bit of a gift for Rohit Sharma.
