Richard Wilkinson: Here we go again...
Lees c Verreynne b Rabada 5 (Eng 6-1)
Gone!
You could sort of feel that coming after the first ball of the over. Alex Lees goes for another big swing at Kagiso Rabada but doesn't connect properly, the ball just climbing up on him, and the edge is well taken by keeper Kyle Verreynne.
Perilously close to lbw for Alex Lees, as Kagiso Rabada swings a delivery low into the pad.
Height and maybe a smidge of bat might have saved Lees there...

That flew off the edge and past Markram's hand very quickly. It would have been a stunning catch.
Oh!
Alex Lees goes wafting outside off stump, a big swing of the bat, and gets lucky enough with an outside edge that flies over Aiden Markram at second slip and runs away for four.
A nice, tidy start from Lungi Ngidi, perhaps erring on the wide side, and Zak Crawley lets every delivery go safely by.
It'll be Lungi Ngidi to share opening bowling duties.
The umpires are wearing black armbands today in honour of the great Rudi Koertzen, owner of the best finger-raise in cricket, who sadly died last week.

That swung too much for me. But there is definitely some movement in the air, which will encourage Rabada.
Zak Crawley scampers a leg bye before Alex Lees gets thwacked on the pads by back-to-back swinging delivery. Hmm.
Good to know Ian Bell did some prep for ringing the bell this morning.
That's the first runs of the morning, as Alex Lees gets into a horrible tangle against Kagiso Rabada, and a thick inside edge goes trickling away for a single.

Busy morning. I've seen Ian Bell outside Lord's having an energy drink, had to buy a new notebook from the shop at the ground (overpriced at £10, but it is a nice notebook), and then walked into the controversy surrounding a lack of biscuits in the press box. The MCC have declined to comment.
Outside off stump and left well alone.
We're under way!
Kagiso Rabada will, unsurprisingly, bowl the first over of the series.
I think it'll be Alex Lees to take the first delivery.
Here we go...
South Africa huddle as the England batters come down through the Long Room and out onto the pitch.
The players are gathered on the outfield for the national anthems.
It looks, to me, like it might be a little humid out there, which will be good news for the fast bowlers.
Ian Bell is going to ring the Lord's bell! Lovely.
The Future Tours Programme has been announced today, which gives an idea of the amount of Test cricket England will be playing in the next few years.
By our count, they'll play 43 in four years, starting from May next year which is, let's face it, a lot.
Is there too much cricket? The Sports Desk podcast tackled that very question recently.
