Marco Jansen has a half-shout for lbw against Ollie Pope, who gets into a tangle playing off the front foot, but that's high and leg side, I suspect.
Pope then drives nicely through extra cover for yet another three, which gets stats man Andy Zaltzman into a giddy mood.

It has not been a good start from Nortje. Two drag downs and the place you do not want to bowl to Ollie Pope and Joe Root is there.
Ollie Pope promptly cuts Nortje's first delivery away for a smattering of runs, before Joe Root plays a divine cut shot of his own for four.
Double change for South Africa, with the pleasingly angry Anrich Nortje coming in for Kagiso Rabada.

I don't think it is a particularly quick pitch but there seems to be a bit more carry than we have seen on day one of recent Lord's Tests.

Mark Burt: Have loved the transformation in England but really wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all out by tea. Back on the rollercoaster, strap in.
This is a little too leg-side from Marco Jansen first up, although Ollie Pope does pad a delivery just beyond the diving man at short leg.

JayRad: Joe Suffield (11:46 BST) Don’t forget Jansen as well. 6ft 8 left armer. He’s going to cause a lot of problems and he’s only 22.
Looks like the first bowling change of the morning, with left-armer Marco Jansen replacing Lungi Ngidi.
He's six foot eight!
Oh, that was vicious.
Kagiso Rabada gets one to spit up at Joe Root who does really well to fend it away with his glove.
That was lively.

Joe Suffield: I know its dangerous to comment on a Test match in the first session of a series. But, the attack of Rabada, Nortje and Ngidi is going to be fun to watch! Definitely going to see some fireworks!!

Zak Crawley is a conundrum for England. They have backed him in the hope that support pays off in the way it has for Bairstow, Pope and Leach. The squad they have named also covers the second Test, so he is set to play at Old Trafford.
But at what point does it become better for the player to leave him out? And what about being fair to players trying to get in? Dropping a player does not have to be a negative, or final. Plenty before Crawley have been left out and come back better for it.
Ollie Pope leaves a tight delivery from Lungi Ngidi next up before flicking a single away in awkward fashion.

That didn't feel like a great review from South Africa.
Yeah, missing leg stump - and missing by some way, actually.

I think that is going down leg.
I thought it looked a decent shout live, but it could be sliding down leg...
Oh, hello...
A tumbling Ollie Pope is struck on the pad and, after some deliberation, Dean Elgar reviews it.

My first commentator's curse of the Test.
It was a controlled knock though from Crawley, he just nicked a good ball from Rabada who is showing his class. He is a mighty fine bowler.
