Stuart Broad has been really good this morning, running in and asking the right questions. Just a bit of extra bounce and Keegan Petersen was hanging his bat out a bit.

You called it, Ben. The diminutive Keegan Petersen is undone by an expert piece of fast bowling from Stuart Broad.

A rasping delivery on a length from Broad which angles in then straightens up and Petersen is squared up. He has to play... and edges to the hands of Joe Root at first slip, who safely pouches the catch into his midriff.

    Broad is pumped.

These are really good lines from Robinson. He probably just wants to go a little bit fuller because he's allowing Markram to leave on length at the moment.

  5. SA 40-2published at 14 overs

Good control from Ollie Robinson. That's probably why he got the nod over Matthew Potts for this Test you sense.

The final ball of his latest over squares up Aiden Markram as it nips past his defence. He's unfortunate to have been wicketless so far.

Keep an eye out for England players supporting Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign during this Test. The rainbow colours are also splashed across the Old Trafford scoreboard and at the base of the stumps.

Ollie Robinson continues for his seventh over after drinks. He's capable of long-ish spells.

Aiden Markram is the new batter.

Elgar was reprieved earlier but it hasn't cost England. It just left Elgar a touch and Bairstow dives and takes it two-handed. Both openers are now out.

That's a key wicket. Broad kind of got inside his head. Two big appeals, both going down leg but creating a bit of unease for Elgar.

    Elgar c Bairstow b Broad 12 (SA 35-2)

    Stuart Broad gets his break.

A thick edge from Dean Elgar's bat to a Broad delivery on a length and Jonny Bairstow takes the catch at third slip.

Good stuff from Bairstow who gets down low to his right to take it one-handed.

No, it's going down leg. Foakes is getting better. He wasn't that enthusiastic but Broad was.

I'm always certain this is not out but Broad is convinced. The England fielders are trying to avoid his gaze.

Broad asking for a review is like the one person looking for support to kick-on when the pub says it's last orders. "One more drink? Come on, I know a place. Anyone coming with me?"

  15. SA 35-1published at 12.4 overs

Stuart Broad wants a review klaxon.

His second ball to Dean Elgar strikes him high on the pad.

    Ben Stokes is not interested.

Broad's fourth ball then hits Elgar a bit lower.

    Stokes denies him again.

Robinson has bowled better than his figures suggest. He's beaten the bat a number of times but that might be him done for now.

Jonny Bairstow very much looks to me like a policeman chasing someone who has stolen an apple in 1950s London. It is a marvelously intense run.

  18. SA 35-1published at 12 overs

Keegan Petersen cuts Ollie Robinson's fourth ball appreciably through point for four. That was easy on the eye. Jonny Bairstow sets off in hot pursuit, but his despairing dive on the boundary is in vain. He gets a hand on it, scoops it back, but the ball dribbles to the boundary sponge.

Dean Elgar has looked a bit fidgety this morning, playing at balls and not getting his bat on much. Very contrasting styles these two. You could watch Keegan Petersen bat all day. You might have to watch Elgar bat all day.
