Anderson could be dangerous now. He's got his wicket, he's relaxed and he is looking dangerous from his own end.
Brendon McCullum, clutching a beige tea cup with his sunglasses propped on his head, is smiling and nodding approvingly on the England balcony.
The final ball of James Anderson's over squares Dean Elgar up and the South Africa skipper wobbles his bat at it. Threatening stuff.

England will be delighted with that, they'll want to get at least two or three wickets while the clouds are hovering around Old Trafford.

Lovely catch from Foakes, a feathered inside edge and the Lancastrian crowd are cheering Jimmy Anderson. That'll relieve a bit of pressure for England.
Erwee c Foakes b Anderson 3 (SA 3-1)
Just the start England wanted.
James Anderson finds a tricky length and the ball nips back to go between Sarel Erwee's defensive prod and his body and he just gets an inside edge on it.
Ben Foakes dives to his right and to take a fine catch.

Erwee is living dangerously. He's trying to get on the front foot and drive, be positive. But he's played that shot and missed three times.

Ollie Robinson looks like he hasn't been away. He's bowled a couple of lovely delivery and it just seams away. Unlucky not to take the outside edge.
Ollie Robinson switches to round the wicket to South Africa's pair of left-handed openers.
He keeps it wide to Sarel Erwee before allowing him to nude the fourth ball square for a single. Dean Elgar still to get off the mark after facing 14 deliveries.

Good bustle on the way in to OT this morning. Lively music, the smell of frying bacon, one spectator randomly wearing an England shirt with 'Sibley' on the back. I overhead two ladies trying to find their seats.
"What is that?"
"The temporary stand."
"Oh my god.”

It's hard work out there but not impossible for South Africa. It's just doing a little bit.
James Anderson finishes the over with one that nips away from the outside edge of Dean Elgar's bat. Tricky period this, England can smell possible wickets.

Erwee is squatting there in a rather unusual way and making it absolutely clear where he's been hit.
James Anderson gets the first delivery of his next over to climb up into Sarel Erwee and shortly after the South Africa opener is puffing his cheeks out after being struck in the bread basket.
He's putting a brave face on but that blow will have stung.

That second delivery was lovely ball and that's the right length as well. He might even want to go a touch fuller if he can.

When he's on song, Robinson is a lovely bowler. He'll be a bit nervous though in his first game back.
A beauty from Ollie Robinson with his second delivery as he skids one off the pitch between the bat and thigh of Sarel Erwee. That's a dangerous delivery.
Two balls later and Erwee is off the mark with a prod through cover. Robinson finishes the over strongly with a couple of searching deliveries to Dean Elgar.

Ollie Robinson is a seriously impressive bowler with the subtle changes he makes. He's a real competitor, too.
He's worked hard at Sussex to build up the fitness and stamina that he was criticised for - sometimes unfairly, I thought - in the Ashes. He's the kind of guy that when he gets into the battle and competitiveness, he'll bowl all day.

Is it going to be Broad or is it going to be Robinson? It's going to be Robinson.
