Quite right too. SSR was an answer on Pointless the other day and nobody playing had heard of him - and I include my own wife in that.
A national disgrace.

No discussion of middle-aged sporting legends is complete without mention of Sir Steve Redgrave!

After Jimmy Anderson demolished the stumps of Dean Elgar here's how fellow quicks Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson made inroads of their own.
Not sure why I had the phrase 'Pittsburgh Penguins legend' in the old memory banks there but it's almost certainly going to be Mega Drive-based.

When it comes to middle aged sporting legends I think the Czech ice hockey player Jaromir Jagr is definitely one of the best. He was still playing at a high to elite level in the NHL up to the age of 46 with the Calgary Flames and is still playing at the top level in Europe now for the Czech team that he also owns Rytiri Kladno.

Keegan Petersen and Rassie van der Dussen have steadied the ship somewhat after England made an electric start but this game still looks a long way from being saved.
The tourists still need 177 runs just to make England bat again...
Legend is the word. A man reversing time.

WizardofFire: All this talk of 40+ sporting legends and no-one has mentioned one of the GOATS and Kent legend Darren Stevens.
Afternoon everyone, well that went pretty well didn't it.
Do you want the win wrapped up or are you holding out for a day in the sun on Sunday...?
Monday? Forget about it.
A thoroughly enjoyable morning, that.
I'm off for a bit. The wonderful Tom Rostance will take you through to tea.

England will be happy, the seamers all seemed to be in good rhythm and Anderson was exceptional. The dismissal of Elgar was the most memorable moment. The spinners didn't get much purchase and were played quite easily.

That was a very profitable morning for England, although Keegan Petersen and Rassie van der Dussen stuck around admirably to prevent any further damage.
Down the leg side from Joe Root, and Ben Foakes has to let it go scampering away for four byes.
Just one more delivery until lunch...

There's only one, Phil (the Power) Taylor!!

Now that's turn from Jack Leach, and Keegan Petersen gets into a bit of a tangle trying to whip it into the leg side.
Foakes then appeals for an optimistic leg side strangle and gets nowhere.
Shot!
A rather charitable delivery outside off stump from Joe Root, and Rassie van der Dussen laces it beautifully through the covers for four.

He's a little man, Keegan Petersen, so plays off the back foot very often. Nothing wrong in that but it's frustrating for the bowler.

Some solid defence from Keegan Petersen, who sees off another Jack Leach over as the clock ticks down towards lunch.
