  1. SA 111-3published at 47 overs

We've reached 'Don't take me hooooomeeee' levels of consumption as Jack Leach takes on another over. He has toiled away without too much encouragement but that's better, Keegan Petersen misses the turning ball and it somehow gets through everything.

Rassie van der Dussen then clips a loose one away for a rare boundary. Just the ninth of the innings!

The crowd know how well Anderson is bowling here, without reward. There's a pocket to the right of the media centre, underneath the south Africa dressing room, that is right behind the local hero.

Anderson is in good rhythm. It's high class bowling this and tremendous resilience and determination from Van der Dussen.

  6. SA 106-3published at 46 overs

England sticking to their principles - oooh and that's why, James Anderson tying Rassie van der Dussen in knots with a beauty that somehow avoids the edge. That is top-notch bowling.

South Africa still trail by 158, lest we forget.

Leach has been steady, economical. He hasn't got many to spin. This tight tussle continues. If South Africa are going to lose the game, they're going to make it as tough as they can for England.

The fact this is a highlight suggests how the match has gone since lunch.

  9. SA 106-3published at 45 overs

Keegan Petersen with a frustrating bedrock of an innings as far as England are concerned. He squirts an edge away toward cover but easily sees off another Jack Leach set of six.

The advantage you have when you play reverse swing is that you don't have to necessarily change your action because the reverse swing does it for you.

Juan Manuel Fangio was bang on 40 when he won his first F1 world championship - and then took four more in the next four seasons he was able to compete in (he was injured in 1952-52). Didn't retire til a month after his 47th birthday. Then got kidnapped by Fidel Castro. THAT'S a career.

James Anderson currently on about 4.7 on the Snarl-o-meter as Rassie van der Dussen has a tentative play and miss at one. That gets the crowd chanting his name - Anderson, not the man from Transvaal.

  14. SA 104-3published at 43 overs

As a man rapidly approaching my 40th birthday I should pobably be inspired by these sporting examples but I'm afraid to say you won't catch me playing rugby, surfing or stock car racing any day soon.

Jack Leach rattles through another over.

It's fascinating cricket. Van der Dussen and Petersen are hanging on for their team.

Great stuff from James Anderson again, Keegan Petersen almost chops on. A few hands on heads at those two fractional chances for England as KP then cashes in with a clip off his pads. That's the hundred up.

  18. SA 99-3published at 41.3 overs

The last wicket fell at 54, England could do with a breakthrough here. Jimmy Anderson is certainly giving it his all, bending his back and spitting at Rassie van der Dussen, who fends way again.

On the list of things I wouldn't want to do with a broken hand, batting in a Test match would be fairly high up. Keegan Petersen then hits an uppish shot past Ollie Pope at short mid-on but he can't get there...

I guess my only question is, how's the depth of talent in Brisca F1 stock car racing this days?
