Well, well, well. Rishabh Pant has just left six balls from Joe Root. Yeah I know, I'm shocked too.

If Root bowls six balls as slowly as that I don't think Pant is going to leave them all!
Oh. We're going to see Joe Root having a bowl.
This will be to play on Rishabh Pant's ego I imagine.

The game has just come to a bit of a standstill. It's like it's treading water.

James Anderson returns as England seek a couple of wickets before the close in around 20 minutes.
Nothing doing at the moment though as Rishabh Pant works him for a couple and then takes a single.
I think Ben Stokes might be off the field at the moment. A vice captain has never been announced so I've got no idea who is in charge right now.

Greg Boon: England have about 100 runs to play with, they will back themselves chasing 310 but anything beyond puts the game out of reach.

There's a little bit of movement with the new (well, an old) ball as Stuart Broad slides one past the outside edge of a prodding Rishabh Pant.
We'll be playing for another 25 minutes or so. Perhaps unbelievably there are 21 overs left in the day. Even if England win games they'll never qualify for the World Test Championship final because they'll just be constantly deducted points for their over rate.
I reckon I've wasted an hour of my life this summer watching them change the ball.
Sort it out. It's boring.

Pant gave himself a lot of room. It was hit so hard back past Broad.

This one has lasted a solid 11 overs.

Uffff! Shot.
Rishabh Pant gives himself a ridiculous amount of room and smashes Stuart Broad through mid-on for four.
Perhaps unsurprisingly that has sent the ball out of shape and we're going to need another one. Yes, another one.

The natural light has improved of late.

Shot! Cheteshwar Pujara gets high on his toes and punches Ben Stokes through point for a glorious four.
That's a lovely shot. He's looked really solid so far.

I think I'd add Marnus Labuschagne's leave.

Another single to Rishabh Pant, before Stuart Broad finds a little bit of shape to beat the outside edge of Cheteshwar Pujara. Lovely bowling.
Test Match Special have started to speak about building the 'perfect Test player'. It's something like someone's cover drive, someone's cut, someone's pull shot, someone's leg glance, someone's defence, someone's running between the wickets. He takes the ball very early and he has this flick with which he manages to get it behind square.

Gorgeous by Rishabh Pant. A flourish of the wrists and bat brings him four through square leg.
Cheteshwar Pujara twice guides deliberately through the slip cordon for a couple.

James: That should end the conversation about Virat Kohli. Time to drop him and move on. You can’t keep your place in a Test team top 5 with an average of 28.

A single to Rishabh Pant keeps the scoring ticking along.
India are in absolutely no rush here. It's going to be at least halfway through the afternoon session tomorrow before they reach a 400-run lead at this pace.
Fireworks when it is light has to be up there as one of the most pointless things in the world.
I'm sorry if that's miserable, but just woeful. What a waste of cash.
