We're in a phase of normal Test cricket and the two players at the crease have great records. In contrast to the English batsmen, these two haven't hit the ball in the air. The pitch is good and they've been eeking runs out to build a partnership.

To me this is classical batting and it's much lower risk.

    A maiden from James Anderson.

Away from Edgbaston, Ffion has just had a notification from Facebook about a memory. On this day in 2013 she uploaded 136 pictures to a Wimbledon album. One hundred and thirty six. Remember those days?

I thought that was a pretty good over from Ben Stokes. Regarding that question of whether he's carrying an injury, he always seems to limp and I thought it was his left leg. It's dangerous to think that as a batsman though because he can be quick.

Tidy over from Ben Stokes, but he again oversteps and gives away a no-ball. I think there were 10 of those in the first innings from the England skipper.

It's an issue. It's something he'll want to eradicate in nip and tuck games.

This one has lasted just 8.1 overs. I might need a super-computer or something to keep track of how many times the ball has been changed throughout this summer.

It takes seven-eight months to make a cricket ball and every now and then, you get a batch of balls where the leather hasn't been cured well enough.

Ugh. They are changing the ball again.

That one has lasted 8.1 overs.

That's not the best shot Kohli has played today. It was nowhere near a drive-able length there. Don't want to get out playing a rash shot.

Oh! That's loose from Virat Kohli, perhaps for the first time in this innings. The delivery from James Anderson, who has got him seven times in Test cricket, wasn't there for driving but the former skipper goes for it anyway and is beaten on the inside edge.

That's a beautiful way to responded though. It's fuller from Anderson and Kohli just bunts a drive back down the ground. He's up to 20 off 35 balls.

I'm not sure if Ben Stokes is fully fit here. Keeping an eye on his right leg as he bowls here. It seems like he's struggling. He's bent over and is grimacing while holding his knees.

    Thanks Ffion.

You had Max Branning, I'm hoping to hear from Steve McDonald and Zak Dingle before we finish in a couple of hours.

This is all looking a bit easy for India at the moment, isn't it?

Here's Ben Stokes with ball in hand. Just a single from it.

How are England going to get Virat Kohli? And can they get him before the close?

Let's find out. Here's Callum Matthews to take you through until the end.

Just trying to decipher what Jimmy Anderson is trying to signal to his team-mates as he makes a T sign with both arms, bit like he's asking for a review except he's at the top of his mark.

The only change that happens is that backward point is now in place. T for ... point? Not sure that fits.

It will be interesting to see if that's the end of Potts' spell or if he's going to come back.

  15. Ind 66-2published at 24 overs

Matthew Potts leaves the field after his over but he doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort.

Ben Stokes was just starting to twirl his arms so we may see England's captain for a quick burst.

No centuries in any format since 2020 for Kohli and he's averaged just 28 in Tests.

  17. Ind 63-2published at 23 overs

Another maiden from Anderson to Kohli.

This battle is very much second best to Potts v Pujara right now, though.

Got to give credit to this pitch. Really good sporting pitch. Keeps everyone interested whether you're a batter or a bowler.

  19. Ind 63-2published at 22 overs

Again Potts strikes Pujara on the pad but it's going down leg side.

Stokes claps ferociously from slip, desperate for his fellow Durham man to get this much-deserved wicket. The scoring may not be high but this is gripping stuff, just in a much different way to this morning's fireworks.

    Test cricket has it all.

Potts looks like he's going to pick up a wicket every delivery.
