Simon M: For years, we've asked "what happens to England's bowling after Anderson & Broad retire?" Can we change that to "how potent is England's pace attack if Woods, Archer, Robinson and Potts are all fit?"

  2. Ind 61-2published at 21 overs

    Lead by 193

Anderson starts with a maiden but Kohli is solid in defence.

It's Potts that's been the danger man today, though.

Kohli's got a determined look in his eye. He's come out and played absolutely beautifully so far.

It's time for the big one.

    Anderson v Kohli.

    Let's go.

    Potts has bowled absolutely magnificently.

    He deserves a wicket.

  6. dropped catch

    Ind 61-2published at 20 overs

Ohhhh! Next ball Pujara edges behind and it is just evades a diving Sam Billings. Very harsh to call it a drop because he was diving full-stretch to his right and didn't really get much on it but it's been phenomenal from Potts.

    So unlucky.

They had a double go there but neither were out so England have lost a review.

  8. Not outpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 3 July 2022

No edge and going over the top! Stokes looks completely baffled which suggests they must've been going for the caught behind but he hasn't hit it.

Still though, Potts continues to cause problems. It's been a brilliant spell and he really deserves a wicket.

    I don't think he's got a touch on this.

  10. England reviewpublished at 19.4 overs

    England think they've got Pujara!

It's a bit of a messy one and I can't tell if it's lbw or caught behind.

I'm not sure they really know either but they like it. Let's see...

Max Branning: If there was ever a time for Kohli to deliver, it’s now.

  13. Ind 57-2published at 18.2 overs

    Beautiful. Just beautiful.

High elbow, punched down the ground for four by Virat Kohli. He's in the mood.

We're in for a contest - stay tuned.

  14. Ind 53-2published at 18 overs

Potts beats Pujara with a carbon copy of that delivery and he's bowling beautifully here.

Bit like Stuart Broad when he's in one of his 'knees are pumping' moods.

How well has Potts bowled? He's got that great shape to the right-handers and that is a cracker. So close!

  16. Ind 48-2published at 17.2 overs

Matthew Potts beats Virat Kohli with an absolute beauty that somehow doesn't take the edge. Potts thinks he's nicked it and they discuss a review, but Sam Billings says no.

Stokes goes up to his bowler and grabs his shoulders to give him an encouraging shake. Watching the replay and that was literally millimetres away from the edge.

Keep an eye out for James Anderson v Virat Kohli, one of the greatest battles in Test cricket over recent years. This could well be the last time they face off against each other.

That's got the Indian fans off their seats around the ground, a fine stroke from Virat Kohli.

  19. Ind 47-2published at 17 overs

Kohli carves his third ball gloriously through the covers for four, much to the delight of the Indian fans around Edgbaston.

Jimmy Anderson goes through some stretches in the outfield. Is Stokes going to bring his main man back on or is he just playing mind games?

Good bit of bowling from Stuart Broad. He wasn't shy of pitching it up, pitching it up and he's lured him into the drive. Just that bit of movement to find the edge and Bairstow takes the catch.

That might give England some momentum.
