  1. Ind 13-1published at 3 overs

Anderson raps Pujara on the pad and there is an appeal for lbw - it's initially quite vociferous but quickly the enthusiasm fades. It looked to be sliding down.

Vihari edges the last ball of the over towards the slip cordon. Bairstow dives across from third, Crawley the other way from second but it doesn't quite carry.

Wickets falling from the extra ball after a no-ball has been a bit of a feature of this Test.

Stuart Broad is very resilient. He has proven that over the years with his magnificent career.

That over that went for 35 yesterday should act as hope for all bowlers out there that it can happen to anyone!

  4. Ind 7-1published at 2 overs

Stuart Broad shares the new ball with Anderson, it feels as though it has been ever thus, and bowls to Cheteshwar Pujara.

The first ball is a touch too straight and Pujara turns it around the corner to fine leg. A misfield allows the Indian batters to scamper back for two.

What should be the last ball of the over is actually the penultimate delivery as Broad oversteps, yet another no-ball. It nearly buys him a wicket! A thick inside edge that just goes past the stumps. Safe in the end, just a single to fine leg.

No wonder Pujara couldn't middle that last one, according to the speen gun, Broad is bowling 90mph. Hmm.

Brendon McCullum went out to the middle during the change of innings to speak to the groundstaff. I'm not sure I can remember seeing a coach do that before.

  6. Ind 4-1published at 1 over

Anderson nearly has a second as he gets the ball to whistle past Hanuma Vihari's outside edge.

Just the start England wanted and, frankly, needed!

It's the hardness of the new ball again because it did bounce, you can see that from where Zak Crawley took the ball at his stomach. It was tight to off stump and Gill was just trying to play inside the line of it.

It didn't seem to do a great deal. Shubman Gill just couldn't resist.

    WICKETpublished at 0.3 overs

    Gill c Crawley b Anderson 4 (Ind 4-1)

Gone next ball! Not a huge amount of swing but good line, good length and Gill felt he had to play. He did and then it was a bit of extra bounce that did for him. Edge taken and Zak Crawley gobbles it up at second slip.

  10. Ind 4-0published at 0.2 overs

    Lead by 136

Second ball of the innings and Shubman Gill is onto the front foot and pushes the ball through the vacant mid-off region for four.

Thanks, Anurag. A top first stint!

Yes, for the first time in a while, I'm not starting with weather updates. Instead, we're straight back to it.

Jimmy Anderson has the new ball in hand and England need quick wickets to give themselves a chance of winning this Test.

Right, that has left India with a sizeable lead of 132 runs.

India's second innings should begin shortly and the best news you would've heard all day today is that there doesn't seem to be any rain around.

On that note, it's time for me to hand it back to Sam Drury and hopefully the rain stays away, despite him being on live-text.

If we're talking about India setting a target, where do we even start trying to predict that after what we've seen from England in the past few weeks?!

    Phew. Well that was busy.

Bairstow got out after chasing a full one from Shami earlier. Here's how that went down. It brought his third consecutive Test hundred to an end.

Tom: That's a bad bad decision. That clearly bounces into his hands!

Mark Burt: That has clearly bounced, surely. Very poor umpiring again, how could you give the soft signal out?

Ian: The ball bounced into his hands. That is sufficient evidence to suggest that he didn’t catch it. You can’t give that if you don’t give Root's catch on day one.

India are in a very strong position. They have got plenty of time left in the game so they are under no pressure at all.

They will just slowly increase that lead and try and push it to around 400. It's going to be difficult for the bowlers now, having to bowl with such a deficit.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 61.3 overs

Potts c Iyer b Siraj 19 (Eng 284 all out)

It has been given much to the dismay of the crowd. It was a touch short on off stump and Matthew Potts' feet went nowhere as he fended at that. The edge just about carried to Iyer at second slip who juggled it before eventually taking it on the second attempt!

That's a real tough one for third umpire Marais Erasmus! One of those that'll divide opinions for days to come and umpire Erasmus is in the hot-seat.

The soft signal was out and we're still waiting for a decision.

Right they're checking for a catch here.

Matthew Potts has nicked one through to second slip who claimed a catch very low down to his right.
