England Lions have named a 13-player squad for their two 50-over games against South Africa next week.

David Payne, who played for England in the Netherlands in June, is included, as are Tom Banton and Ben Duckett, who have also featured for England in the past.

There's also a place for 17-year-old Rehan Ahmed, who was part of England's under-19 team that finished runners-up in the World Cup last year.

The games take place at Taunton on 12 July and Worcester on 14 July.

Full squad: Tom Abell (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Sam Cook, Ben Duckett, Steven Eskinazi, Sam Hain, Adam Hose, Benny Howell, Jake Lintott, David Payne, George Scrimshaw, Will Smeed.

    Thanks, Ffion.

What a novelty - no rain! We've got a fascinating session to look back on and an equally exciting one to look forward to in Birmingham.

First though, we have a bit of squad news to bring you...

That concludes my stint this morning and for the first time in what seems like weeks, I am able to pass on to Sam Drury when it's not raining.

Will he bring more England wickets or India runs? As long as it's not rain, I doubt he'll mind.

It's about the time. If England do bat the time, they'll win. Because of the time available, this target is possible. There's no manic pressure on run-rates or anything.

  5. Lunch - Ind 229-7published at 73 overs

    Lead by 361

A slight mix-up between the batters almost results in a run out but Mohammed Shami survives.

And that's lunch. India lost four wickets in the session but are still in a very strong position. But with so much time left, and the Bazball effect ... who knows?

Last night Jonny Bairstow said England will try to chase anything, but that would be true even if this wasn't 'new England' - there's so much time left in the game, if it goes all the remaining overs, they will win anyway. But how many is too many? And what is the right approach? Will England try to win (and therefore risk losing) by the end of today?

    BBC Test Match Special statistician

There have been 12 successful chases of 350 or more. Four of them in the last seven years.

  8. Ind 225-7published at 72 overs

A short ball is top-edged for four by Mohammed Shami.

    Here we go.

Back he goes and chops it away past the fielder. More screams of delight from the Indian supporters.

  10. Ind 218-7published at 71 overs

Mohammed Shami rocks back in his crease and carves Jack Leach for a lovely four past a diving backward point.

England will want a few more of these from Leach.

It was a tough chance but maybe with Crawley standing there with a couple more inches, he might have got there.

  12. dropped catch

Jadeja dropped on 10published at 70 overs

    Ind 212-7

In ... out ... in ... and out again.

Potts bowls full and brings a chance (shock!) as Jadeja gets a leading edge up to James Anderson at cover, who leaps into the air to get one hand to it, performs a juggling act mid-air before the ball just pops out.

Anderson is furious with himself but it was a tough chance and a great effort.

India are in a good position but they still haven't batted England out of the game. You really don't want to depend on the likes of Shami, Bumrah and Siraj to get runs.

That's not a great piece of cricket, I'll be honest.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 69.1 overs

    Thakur c Crawley b Potts 4 (Ind 207-7)

Short ball tactic to the tail. Works every time.

Banged in short from Potts, and despite the predictability, Shardul Thakur has pulled it straight down the throat of fine leg.

I'm still not convinced by the tactic but hey, it's a wicket! And England badly need them.

Maybe Leach should start trying to bounce them too? I mean, has he even tried?! It's like he doesn't even care about Bazball.

Another tidy over from Leach, who looks set in for a long spell here.

Shardul Thakur hasn't scored a lot of runs in the past few games and he might be feeling the heat. He's obviously in the side because of his batting abilities and he has scored a lot of useful runs for India in the past.

  19. Ind 205-6published at 68 overs

    Lead by 337

Shardul Thakur is deemed fine to continue batting. Potts follows it with two more short balls that he plays with ease.

Potts hits himself in the face with his cap as he walks back to his fielding position. I mean, if you want to take wickets ... bowl fuller?

    Ugh.
