You missed the excitement of Philip Tufnell ordering food off an app last night. Off my app, he refuses to have one on his phone for some reason.

Last night I left the ground just ahead of Jimmy Anderson and Ben Stokes. Coming out of the door, there were fans packed behind a fence, waiting to get a glimpse as the players went to the team bus. There was noise, clapping, shouts for autographs. None of it was for me, obviously, but it was the closest I'll ever get to being an England player.
I can't tell if it's the wind ruffling it or whether Joe Root really needs to iron his shirt.
Saying that, I literally never iron anything. I'm convinced it's a myth.
Short, wide and cut away for four by Rishabh Pant.
This has not been the start that England wanted.
At all.

Pujara was obdurate yesterday in just setting the platform, he's played some nice shots this morning.
Two boundaries in the over to Pujara, who is out-scoring Rishabh Pant this morning.
The ball is literally doing nothing. How long until the first change of it? They got through about six different ones yesterday.

The over-rate was dire yesterday, 15 overs went un-bowled. Surely it has reached a point where something is done about it?
No signs of real extravagance from Rishabh Pant yet, happy to take singles and leave the ball for the moment.
How long can he stay patient for?

England need a couple of wickets in the first half. They need this ball talking and it's not just yet.
Interesting.
Joe Root takes the second over and starts with a ball that drifts down the leg side and nutmegs Sam Billings for two byes.
Sloppy.
Lead by 258

I think India will bat a bit longer than we would like for the game, just to try and bat England out of it completely. It is not set up well for England.
Pujara leaves his first ball alone outside the off stump. There's a strong breeze at Edgbaston as you can see Anderson's shirt ruffling as he runs in.
Jimmy Anderson whirls a med ball around his head and slams it on the ground furiously and is ready to go.
Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara (50 from 139 balls) are at the crease for India.

The seamers have bowled well. I'm just wondering about Jack Leach, is he going to play a role?
Bairstow, fresh from his third century in as many Tests, said last night that England "will chase anything".
That's hardly a surprise but we could be looking at way over 400 and the way India batted yesterday suggests they're in no rush to get on with it.
It'll be a fascinating test for the new England.
The much-anticipated Anderson v Kohli battle didn't quite deliver. It was England's captain who got the prized scalp in the end, with a bit of help from Joe Root.

The idea for India is to bat England out of this game completely and not think about anything else. First session, they won't even think about a declaration. You can start making calculations for how many overs you need to bowl them out after lunch.
If you missed any of yesterday's action, here's a quick reminder.
Good morning!
Important information first: it is NOT raining at Edgbaston (yet). Yesterday started with some more Bairstow brilliance before India built a lead of 257, with seven wickets intact, playing in the exact opposite manner to Bazball.
But will the ever-entertaining Rishabh Pant give us some fireworks this morning?
