Arjun Singh: Lol people love wasting reviews on Root.

  2. Eng 137-3published at 33 overs

    Target 378

Jonny Bairstow rocks back and pushes a single into the covers. He has started in circumspect fashion so far, but we saw that in the first innings and then he exploded.

I'm sure Virat Kohli will have no problem with riling him up again for us...

These two are going to have to score the bulk of these runs for England and there are still a lot to get.

  4. Eng 136-3published at 32 overs

    Target 378

    Rooooot.

The Yorkshireman moves on from the review with a glorious flick through mid-wicket for another boundary.

    He's up to 20 off 32 balls.

Shades of Headingley. India have blown two reviews!

Good shout, Prakash. We're two from two!

  7. Not outpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 4 July 2022

Yeah, it is going over the stumps by an inch or so.

India have blown two reviews in five minutes. Both just haven't looked quite right.

That jagged back in very sharply. Is it too high?

  9. India reviewpublished at 31.3 overs

Mohammed Shami hits Joe Root on the pads, and India decide to send it upstairs.

He's on the back foot, but he is on his toes and it has hit above the knee roll.

    Going over, surely?

He has played it beautifully but it's a risky shot to play from this end because that's where we've seen the uneven bounce.

  11. Eng 132-3published at 31.1 overs

    Target 378

Mohammed Shami returns and Joe Root greets him with a trademark guide to the third boundary.

    A seriously good shot.

It is always very difficult to get an lbw from around the wicket. All the angles are against you.

  13. Eng 128-3published at 31 overs

    Target 378

Joe Root keeps the strike after punching into the covers for a single.

    England need 250 more...

I shouldn't say this, but I did call that! The wicketkeeper should be able to see how far that's pitched outside.

  15. Not outpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 4 July 2022

    Eng 127-3

    Good call from Aleem Dar.

It pitches a ball's width and a bit more outside leg stump and Joe Root survives.

That is a pretty poor review from India in fairness. They've been suckered into that because it was Joe Root.

    Oooooh. It looks close.

  17. India reviewpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 4 July 2022

Has Ravindra Jadeja got Joe Root out lbw?

Surely this has pitched outside the line...

  18. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 4 July 2022

Here's the Alex Lees run out.

Joe Root's fault? I think so.

  19. Eng 127-3published at 30 overs

    Target 378

Jasprit Bumrah has struggled with his line slightly since being bang on the mark to dismiss Ollie Pope with the first wicket after the resumption.

He is on the pads of Joe Root again and the former skipper flicks fine for four, before taking a single.

It's calmed down a little bit.
