I do think that India threw it away in their second innings not setting England 400-450 but I'm now thinking it wouldn't have made a difference.

We were optimistic last night. We were optimistic this morning.

But did we think it would happen like that?

The dominance, the confidence, the positivity. Unbelievable.

It was an incredibly entertaining Test match with history being witnessed. The scary thing is that they chased it down with all three wickets down - you start to wonder what is possible. I am excited and scared.

We were going backwards over the winter but there has been some good decisions made. We have to mention Rob Key.

What a scene. Three months ago this was a team that didn't believe it could beat anyone. They have trounced the world champions 3-0 and they've now beaten India and equalled the series. It is a remarkable turnaround. The fear of failure has been eliminated.

    All done by midday.

As if it was nothing. This has been, quite simply, magnificent.

Root and Bairstow raise their bats to the crowd and soak up the Edgbaston roar.

England have done it with consummate ease, ridiculous ease.

It is Bairstow's 12th century in 81 Tests. He has only scored six in 89 innings, but he has now scored six in eight Tests in 2022.

He is only the fourth England player to score four centuries in five Tests.

He is the first player in Test history to score six years in a calendar year batting at five or lower.

He is the 12th England player to have two centuries in the same Test.

Joe Root punched the air before Jonny Bairstow did then! He is now running down to the other end to celebrate with Bairstow.

Bairstow has scored a century in each innings. He has scored four in five innings. It is remarkable.

  20. 100 runs

100 for Jonny Bairstowpublished at 75 overs

    Need 21 runs to win

    There it is!!!

Clipped into the leg side for a single, there's a bit of calamity as the umpires check for a run out but Jonny doesn't even pay any notice, he's off!

Arms raised, bat aloft, the glance up to the sky. A huge embrace from Joe Root.

What an innings. What a summer. What a man.
