WICKETpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Van Buuren c Lyth b Patterson 21 (Glos 99-3 v Yorkshire)

Three down at Bristol now as Yorkshire captain Steven Patterson removes his opposite number Graeme van Buuren!

Patterson has kept it tight so far, going for just 11 runs in 12 overs and now he finds the edge as Adam Lyth, at second slip, takes his second catch of the day.

Miles Hammond heads out to the middle to join Marcus Harris.

  2. 100 runs

100 for Shan Masoodpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Derbyshire 162-2 v Sussex

He threatened to score a couple of them against Middlesex at Lord's last week, but this time Shan Masood does reach a century for Derbyshire against Sussex.

And it took Simon Harmer just six balls to make an impact!

Lewis Gregory edges one that turns and bounces a bit more at the end of his first over and Alastair Cook takes the simple catch at slip.

  4. Essex turn to Harmerpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Somerset 79-6 v Essex

Simon Harmer time once again for Essex.

The spinner is back in county colours after his recent exploits for South Africa in New Zealand and against Bangladesh.

Doesn't usually have to wait as long as 37 overs until he gets a go, but such has been the display so far from Essex's seamers.

Lewis Gregory (4 not out) and Tom Lammonby (31 not out) the first to face him for Somerset.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Patel c Abbas b Fuller 58 (Surrey 119-2 v Hampshire)

James Fuller really has the knack of coming on and taking wickets straight away!

His second delivery is slammed by Ryan Patel straight to Mohammad Abbas at long leg and it's a very welcome wicket for the visitors.

Patel had added 80 with Hashim Amla, who's now joined at the wicket by Ollie Pope.

  6. 50 runs

Harris hits debut half-centurypublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Glos 86-2 v Yorks

Marcus Harris only stepped off the plane last weekend and Gloucestershire will be delighted to have him out in the middle at Bristol.

The Australian left-hander has just registered a maiden 50 for his new county, clipping Jordan Thompson for two to bring up that landmark from 110 balls.

Skipper Graeme van Buuren has joined Harris at the crease after lunch and is currently 12 not out.

    Kent v Lancashire 133-3

Lancashire continuing to build useful partnerships at Canterbury.

Steven Croft (31 not out) and skipper Dane Vilas (34 not out) have added 53 so far for the fourth wicket after losing Josh Bohannon before lunch.

Going along at a decent rate too.

  8. dropped catch

Lammonby survives another droppublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Somerset 74-6 v Essex

    CookImage source, Rex Features

Essex once again miss a chance to dismiss Somerset opener Tom Lammonby.

He was dropped on six earlier by Simon Harmer off Sam Cook at second slip, but this time it's Cook himself who misses the chance.

It was however, a very fiercely-struck drive in his bowling follow-through for a possible caught and bowled.

Got two hands on it above his head, but it didn't stick and the Essex seamer will feel he should've clung on.

Lammonby survives on 27 this time.

  9. 50 runs

    50 for Ryan Patel!published at 14:05 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Surrey 102-1 v Hants

Ryan Patel (Surrey)Image source, Getty Images

Beautiful cover drive by Ryan Patel brings up his half-century from 99 balls, crashing Kyle Abbott to the boundary.

It's the Surrey opener's sixth first-class 50 overall and already his second of the season.

That also lifts the Surrey total into three figures - and they're only one wicket down, although Hashim Amla might have gone in the previous over, slashing outside off stump at Mohammad Abbas.

Liam Dawson was unable to hold the chance at second slip.

  10. More injury news from Chester-le-Streetpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Durham 85-3 v Leicestershire

Durham lost Alex Lees before the start through injury, now Leicestershire have also had a slice of bad luck it seems...

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Davies c Wheater b Snater 3 (Somerset 70-6 v Essex)

And now Somerset's task has got even stiffer...

Steven Davies becomes their sixth wicket to fall and probably to the loosest shot of all so far.

He edges Shane Snater to give Adam Wheater another catch, but it was high and wide outside his off stump and arguably a ball he didn't need to be playing.

  12. Somerset with work to be done...published at 13:49 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Somerset 70-5 v Essex

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset at Taunton

Another dismal morning for Somerset, courtesy of another top-order batting collapse.

Hard to judge the pitch from our vantage point, but however much there is in it for the bowlers, Essex's Sam Cook and Mark Steketee have made the most of it.

Tom Lammonby (27 not out) is hanging in there, largely strokeless but utterly determined not to give it away.

  15. 'Honours even' at lunchpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Nottinghamshire 108-2 v Glamorgan

Honours are just about even after a very watchable morning.

Put in, Notts ticked along at more than four-an-over throughout the session.

Sam Northeast featured in two of the three major moments of the morning, catching Ben Slater off Michael Neser, before spilling Ben Duckett just before lunch.

Haseeb Hameed was particularly unlucky. The England opener was unwittingly run out at the non-striker’s end as Duckett’s drive flicked off the fingers of bowler James Weighell and onto the stumps.

Joe Clarke announced his intentions by pulling David Lloyd for the first six of the contest and he and Duckett have already added 39 for the third wicket.

  16. Masood keeps on churning out the runspublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Derbyshire 108-2 v Sussex

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex at Derby

    MasoodImage source, Rex Features

A very good morning for Derbyshire and in particular Shan Masood, who has batted imperiously scoring his third half-century of the season.

This looks a very good pitch, and both Billy Godleman and Brooke Guest looked furious with themselves as they were both dismissed caught down the leg side.

Sussex have used six bowlers so far in an attempt to stem the flow of runs, but their injury-hit seam attack, Steven Finn apart, has struggled to bowl a consistent line and length.

  19. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Surrey 83-1 v Hants

Ryan Patel (Surrey)Image source, Getty Images

Surrey won't be too unhappy with that opening session as they tuck into their lunch, having been put in by Hampshire.

Ryan Patel is looking good on 39 not out, with Amla - despite an uncertain start - alongside him on 15 not out.

Rory Burns' wicket is the only one to fall so far, with Ian Holland having the left-hander caught in the slips for 21.

  20. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 14 April 2022

    Kent v Lancashire 89-3

And that's lunch at Canterbury as well.

Honours even you might say after Lancashire opted to bat first. Steven Croft (16 not out) and Dane Vilas (8 not out) head to the Pavilion for the Red Rose.

Nathan Gilchrist with two and Matt Milnes in the wickets for Kent so far.
