    Kent 305 v Hampshire 295-4

The loss of James Vince hasn't checked Hampshire's progress at all.

Ben Brown replaced him at the crease and three of his four scoring strokes so far have brought boundaries.

Liam Dawson reaches 50 off 66 balls at the other end with a push down the ground off Matt Milnes for two runs.

Hampshire are only 10 in arrears.

    Hannon-Dalby lbw Harmer 0 (Warwickshire 321-9 v Essex 168)

In the end, it is Simon Harmer's arm ball that does the trick for nESsex as OHD is lbw for a 32-ball duck.

We assumed that would be the end of the Warwickshire innings but no, Craig Miles is out there with the pads on - presumably as a concussion replacement for Liam Norwell, who was struck on the helmet earlier on.

  3. 250 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Lancs 250-3 v Glos 252

A second batting point on the board for Lancashire - probably only time for one more.

And they're about to move into the lead as well, still with seven wickets in hand.

    Josh Bohannon there on 134.

A golden chance here to take the game away from Gloucestershire.

Lancashire have put the visitors' effort yesterday into full perspective.

  4. Vince 'makes it look easy'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 285-4

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

A splendid century from James Vince, his innings ending with Nathan Gilchrist finding an edge with the second ball of his latest spell.

At times Vince made it look very easy, unfurling those famous cover drives and scoring at a run per ball rate throughout his knock.

Kent’s bowlers conceded a leaky 172 runs in the afternoon session, they need a few more scalps before stumps to claw their way back into this match.

  5. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 314-8 v Essex 168

Essex are testing Oliver Hannon-Dalby with some short-pitched deliveries, but he is still there - nought not out after 25 deliveries.

He and Michael Burgess, who is on 111, have secured a third batting point for the champions, having put on 122 for the last wicket in their last match against Surrey.

    Northants v Yorks 44-0 lead by 136

Exactly what Northants couldn't afford here, a jumping start to Yorkshire's second innings.

The visitors racing along at five-an-over.

Eight boundaries in eight overs have stretched the lead already.

Northants staring down the barrel at the moment, still with so much time left in the game.

    Vince c Cox b Gilchrist 111 (Kent 305 v Hampshire 275-4)

Kent followers won't agree but we're almost sorry it's over.

James Vince opens the face to ball from Nathan Gilchrist but only succeeds in deflecting it straight to Jordan Cox at first slip.

Vince hit 19 fours in his 188-ball innings and Ben Brown is the new Hampshire batter.

    Leicestershire 213 v Derbyshire 381-3

If their opening batsman keeps this up, Derbyshire may have to re-name themselves Masoodshire.

Following his 239 against Sussex, he brings up another double ton off 251 balls with an inside edge for a single off Wiaan Mulder.

It wasn't his most convincing stroke but he has hit a six and 24 fours so far and his side lead by168. Meanwhile, Mattie McKiernan is 45 not out at the other end and they have added exactly 100.

  10. 50 runs

for Ben Foakespublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Surrey 154-4 v Somerset 305

Ben Foakes reaches a 113-ball 50 by punching Jack Brooks away for four and repeats the shot two balls later with the same result.

Sam Curran is 15 not out at the other end as Surrey rebuild following the loss of Ollie Pope - courtesy of Tom Banton's amazing boundary catch.

  11. Afridi wins 'headline battle'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Glamorgan 122 & 63-3 v Middlesex 336

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Pakistan paceman Shaheen Afridi again won the headline battle in the Cardiff gloom as he trapped Australia star Marnus Labuschagne lbw for 23.

Labuschagne was trying to force on the leg-side when he was hit low on the pad and was dismayed to see the umpire’s finger rise.

Middlesex stalwarts struck early with Toby Roland-Jones yorking David Lloyd for 22 and Tom Helm producing a jaffa to bowl stand-in opener Andrew Salter for 7.

Earlier John Simpson reached an unbeaten century and took the visitors out of sight with firm blows at the other end from Roland-Jones (65), Helm (33) and Afridi (29).

Labuschagne’s leggies eventually accounted for Afridi and last man Thilan Walallawita in quick succession, but Afridi won the battle that mattered with only the threat of bad light looking likely to halt Middlesex’s progress.

    The breakthrough for the Glosters!

Zafar Gohar is kept going and he slips one through Steven Croft's attempted sweep.

A point on the board for Glos and now a fresh batsman to face the new ball.

  13. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

Shan Masood has now advanced to 187 not out for Derbyshire, who are 353-3 and lead Leicestershire by 140.

Nottinghamshire have their third batting point against Durham, with Ben Slater 132 not out and Lyndon James on 76 - their stand is now worth 149 and the total is 304-3.

Marnus Labuschagne has fallen to Shaheen Afridi for 23 and Glamorgan are 62-3 in their second innings against Middlesex - still 152 behind.

Cheteshwar Pujara is leading a Sussex fightback at new Road and is 42 not out in their 103-2, replying to Worcestershire's total of 491.

    Lancs 234-2 v Glos 252

It's been a day of toil for Gloucestershire.

But here is a chance to try and get back in the game with 17 overs left in the day.

If Lancs can plough on through this period they'll be on their way to a match-winning lead.

Josh Bohannon on 127 and, with Steven Croft, a century stand for the third wicket, following the 106 added for the second.

  15. Postpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 311-8 v Essex 168

Essex still cannot pick up what will presumably be the final Essex wicket after Liam Norwell had to retire hurt.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby has dead-batted nine balls since joining Michael Burgess, who is now 108 not out. The home side's lead is 143.

James Vince slashes Darren Stevens square for four to earn Hampshire a second batting point and pushes the next ball for a single to reach a quite dazzling century from 99 balls.

It's his 27th in first-class cricket and has featured 17 boundaries. Vince last played Test cricket in 2018 - but maybe the Rob Key era will bring about his return if he keeps playing like this.

WICKETpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Pope c Banton b C Overton 47 (Surrey 128-4 v Somerset 337)

That is one of the best outfield catches you will ever see anywhere.

Craig Overton surprises Ollie Pope with a little extra bounce and his attempted hook shot flies away off the top edge to backward square leg where Tom Banton dives full length and catches it one handed just above the ground, and just inside the rope.

If catches do truly win matches, that one deserves to - but there's a long way to go in this game.

  18. 100 runs

for Michael Burgesspublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Warwickshire 308-8 v Essex 168

Absolutely brilliant by Michael Burgess, who follows the 178 in his last innings with four successive boundaries in the same Mark Steketee over, reaching 100 off 150 in the process.

Some of those shots would be more at home in the T20 Blast but who cares - a boundary is a boundary and he's hit 15 of them in this innings.

Warwickshire have a third batting point and lead by 140.

Northants all outpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 22 April 2022

    Northants 204 v Yorks 296

Ben Sanderson wheels a boundary to long leg.

But is then lbw playing across a straight one from Jordan Thompson.

The Tykes' Thommo finishes with 4-54 and helps his side to a mighty first-innings lead of 92.

Northants did at least scrape a batting point but that's a pretty poor effort with only three scores higher than 21.
