  1. 50 runs

Half century for Rob Yatespublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Warwickshire 315 & 132-3, Lancashire 361

Rob Yates reaches his half century - surprisingly for the first time this season. But it means little in the context of this match. From the moment so much time was lost to bad weather on day two, this game has always been struggling to catch up - and the draw has long seemed inevitable.

  2. 50 runs

50 up for Cookpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Essex 403 & 76-0 v Yorkshire 465

Joe Root returns for a second over - and again it only goes for two runs.

But those two runs take Sir Alastair Cook past the latest half-century of his illustrious career.

    Goodman c Brown b Abbas 1 (Gloucestershire 218-7, chasing 368 to win)

    Mohammad Abbas strikes again.

Dom Goodman has to play at a lifter just outside off stump and feathers a catch to Ben Brown.

It's a third wicket of the innings for the Pakistan paceman - and, after his 6-45 in the first dig, he is now just one short of a first 10-wicket match haul for Hampshire.

New man in is Jared Warner.

    Victory inches closer for Hampshire.

  4. Former England captains collidepublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Essex 403 & 70-0 v Yorkshire 465

It might be petering out into a draw but a nice moment at Chelmsford as England eras collide - Joe Root taking the ball to bowl to fellow former national team skipper Sir Alastair Cook.

Cook gets two runs from the first ball but those are the only runs in the over as Root responds with five dot balls.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Lace c Fuller b Abbas 0 Gloucestershire 208-5, chasing 368 to win)

Sixth wicket for Hampshire as Tom Lace clips an awful shot to midwicket off Mohammad Abbas and departs for a ninth-ball duck.

There is an audible buzz in the air now at the Ageas Bowl.

Dom Goodman is the new man in.

  6. Essex nudge ahead of Yorkshirepublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Wickets falling everywhere except Chelmsford it seems.

Sir Alastair Cook (45 not out) and Nick Browne (12 not out) showing no signs of budging.

Essex up to 63-0, a lead of one run.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Hain lbw b Hassan Ali 6 (Warwickshire 103-3 v Lancashire)

Lancashire take their third wicket as Sam Hain surprisingly goes cheaply for the first time this season, undone by a Hassan Ali yorker.

This consistent Warwickshire run accumulator had previously had not been out for anything less than 29 in five previous innings this season.

New man in is Bears skipper Will Rhodes.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Hammond lbw b Barker 67 (Gloucestershire 201-5, chasing 368 to win)

Hampshire take the new ball and get a second wicket in quick succession as Miles Hammond's long stay at the crease is over.

Three hours and 10 minutes he lasted for his 67.

So confident was Keith Barker with his LBW appeal that the big former Warwickshire left-armer barely bothered to turn round and look at the umpire.

Five down now. Hampshire the clear favourites.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Glamorgan have lost the wicket of opener David Lloyd as they chase 150 to beat Leicestershire but the skipper certainly made an impact.

He hit 36 off 32 balls before being bowled by Leicestershire captain Callum Parkinson.

At 43-1 the chase should still be a formality, though.

Meanwhile, Middlesex, down to nine batters through illness and injury, are digging in at 46-1 against Sussex in a bid to claim what would be a hugely creditable draw in the circumstances.

  10. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Essex 403 & 58-0 v Yorkshire 465

Expensive over from Matthew Revis, which goes for 18 - including eight extras. A couple of no balls and several byes.

Sir Alastair Cook saunters up to 41 and Yorkshire's already slim hopes of a final-day win are receding even further.

  11. The Great Escape? Or Escape to Victory?published at 14:10 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Durham 580-6 dec & 170-1 dec, Worcestershire 309 & 173-2

    Dan Wheeler
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Both outcomes are still possible for Worcestershire after a perfect start to the final day.

Azhar Ali and Jack Haynes played trouble-free this morning to notch half-centuries apiece - Azhar’s first for the county - to calm home nerves and bring safety considerably closer.

Durham’s attack has looked toothless unable to ask enough questions. Worcestershire’s victory target is still fanciful. Batting out the day looking less so with each passing over.

All four results still possible in this one!

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Sibley c Salt b Parkinson 41 (Warwickshire 315 & 92-2, Lancashire 361)

Dom Sibley is out, for the first time in the match.

After his unbeaten 142 in the first innings, this time round he succumbs to legspinner Matt Parkinson.

New man in to join Rob Yates (37) is Sam Hain.

The Bears lead by 46. This game is still slowly grinding to a halt.

  13. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Glamorgan 437 & 33-0 v Leicestershire 320 & 266

Glamorgan going at almost T20 pace after lunch as they look to wrap up victory sharpish.

They have raced to 33-0 off five overs, with skipper David Lloyd (28 not out) scoring the bulk of those runs.

Just 117 more runs required for a victory which would, if our maths are right, lift them to the top of Division Two.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    van Buuren b Holland 20 (Hampshire 342 & 204 Gloucestershire 179 & 184-4)

At last, another breakthrough for Hampshire.

Graeme van Buuren is bowled by Ian Holland for 20, to end a stand of 53.

Ryan Higgins comes in to join Miles Hammond, who is still going well.

  15. Chance for Durham goes downpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Durham 580-6 dec & 170-1 dec, Worcestershire 309 & 165-2

A life for Jack Haynes at New Road on 61.

He edges Liam Trevaskis in the third over after lunch but David Bedingham - one of Durham's three South Africans - puts him down, diving low to his left at second slip.

Worse still, it goes for four. The first runs since lunch. 277 now needed. Eight wickets still for Durham to take.

  16. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Essex 403 & 28-0 v Yorkshire 465

Nice start to the afternoon session from Sir Alastair Cook, who dispatches Dom Bess to the boundary twice in the first over after lunch.

  17. Play resumespublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Lunch taken, players replenished - and we are back under way in the three Division One and three Division Two games taking place today.

Can Gloucestershire claim the 187 runs they need to beat Hampshire? Can any of Essex, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Warwickshire produce a magical afternoon session to turn seemingly certain draws into wins?

James Anderson has spent half and hour during the lunch interval bowling in the middle.

Supporters have been allowed to walk around the outfield and all of them formed a semi-circle around the pitch Jimmy was using to bowl on.

All keeping a respectful distance, all perhaps pinching themselves that they could watch him up close.

Half a dozen kids or so waited until he'd finished for autographs, pictures and memories they'll cherish for some time.

  19. Sunday lunchpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

Everybody seems to be lunching nicely. And on time for once too.

So the boys in the concrete bunker, as Kevin Howells calls it, are coming up for some fresh air.

    Back in 10 minutes . . .

  20. White injury mars morning at Hovepublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 8 May 2022

    Sussex 395 & 335-4 dec v Middlesex 358 & 22-1

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A session that was marred by a serious injury to Robbie White, who was injured whilst diving to prevent a boundary.

He left the field in some distress on a stretcher with what has subsequently been diagnosed as a dislocated shoulder.

On the field, Chesteshwar Pujara and Tom Clark took their partnership to 191 before Clark was dismissed, prompting a declaration that leaves Middlesex needing 370 to win in 77 overs.

Pujara, who has now scored 717 runs this season at an average of 143, remained undefeated on 170.

Middlesex lost Mark Stoneman to the second over of the innings and being a batsman down may settle for a draw rather than a run chase.
