WICKETpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Ackermann lbw Pennington 15 (Worcs 577-6 dec v Leics 148 & 69-3)

That must have been a tight call. It was pretty high on Colin Ackermann's pad after cutting back off the seam.

The umpire sent him on his way, though, and Leicestershire lose their third wicket with 360 needed to avoid an innings defeat.

  2. Yorkshire pass 400published at 14:50 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Yorks 413-9 v Warwicks 244

    Matthew RevisImage source, Rex Features

Oliver Hannon-Dalby bangs in a short ball which balloons up and Matthew Revis smacks it away through the leg-side for four.

Two balls later and Steve Patterson backs away and carves one through the covers for three which takes the Yorkshire total past 400.

A more ungainly pull shot brings Revis four more runs and he lifts the final ball of the over over mid-on for another boundary.- 16 from it and the home side lead by 169.

    Abell c Brown b Barker 2 (Somerset 211 & 19-3 v Hampshire 280)

    Keith BarkerImage source, Getty Images

Hampshire have really got the bit between their teeth in this afternoon session.

Keith Barker has his second as he tempts Tom Abell into a shot across his pads, but the Somerset captain feathers it behind to the waiting Ben Brown.

He goes for just two runs.

  4. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Worcs 577-6 dec v Leics 148 & 60-2

Leicestershire are up against it but Lewis Hill is batting well and squirts away a boundary to third man in Dillon Pennington's latest over. He is 33 not out - but the visitors' deficit is 369.

  5. 50 runs

for Max Holdenpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Middlesex 214-5 v Durham 350

Tip and run at the home of English cricket.

Max Holden drops the bat on a ball from Matt Salisbury and hares to the other end to reach 50 off 97 balls.

It's his fourth half-century of the season.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Loten c Burgess b Hannon-Dalby 5 (Yorks 392-9 v Warwicks)

Did that carry? The umpire thinks so and Tom Loten is gone.

That was a smart left-handed grab by Michael Burgess - his fifth catch of the innings - as the ball jagged back off the seam and took the inside edge of the bat.

Number 11 Steve Patterson comes to the crease with Yorkshire 148 in front.

We asked you to name the uncapped county players most deserving of a Test call-up. Here are a couple of suggestions.

From Ratters: "Jamie Porter has proved himself time and time again for Essex, fully deserves a try out for England #bbccricket, external."

Unless he has had an injury, we are surprised how few games JP has played for Essex so far this season, given his record.

From Jamie Jones: "Uncapped at international level and most deserving? The answer is always James Hildreth. #bbccricket, external."

It is amazing the selectors have overlooked a player with 47 first-class hundreds to his name, but his age is very much against him now.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Renshaw lbw Barker 11 (Somerset 211 & 12-2 v Hampshire 280)

The wickets just keep on coming after lunch and Somerset are wobbling!

Matt Renshaw had made a good start, leading the way for the hosts in their second innings, but Keith Barker gets his line and length spot on to pin him lbw.

Two quick wickets for Hampshire has them on the front foot and they're still 54 ahead.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Lammonby c Brown b Abbas 0 (Somerset 211 & 11-1 v Hampshire 280)

First one down for Hampshire and its a duck for Tom Lammonby.

Mohammad Abbas bangs one down and a thick edge takes it behind where wicket keeper Ben Brown moves across to snatch it out of the waiting hands of first slip.

That brings skipper Tom Abell to the crease who will be aiming to help his side reduce the deficit.

  10. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Notts 358 v Derbyshire 260 & 65-2

Derbyshire opener Billy Godleman is certainly in no rush today and his innings is continuing to frustrate the Notts bowling attack.

He's moved onto 20 from 95 balls with Wayne Madsen on 11 at the other end, with Derbyshire now 41 behind.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Azad c and b Morris 18 (Worcs 577-6 dec v Leics 148 & 36-2)

Wickets, wickets, everywhere - and what a catch that is!.

Charlie Morris is bowling into the foot marks from round the wicket and when Hassan Azad checks a drive, he swoops to take the return catch with his left hand.

Colin Ackermann, recently relieved of the red-ball captaincy by Leicestershire, joins Lewis Hill in the middle.

    Somerset 211 & 9-0 v Hampshire 280

So far so good for Somerset as they look to build some momentum after lunch.

Matt Renshaw is not out on nine, with Tom Lammonby playing the supporting role - he's yet to score from 14 balls.

Somerset trail by 60 runs at Taunton as Hampshire probe for an early breakthrough.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Robson c Eckersley b Raine 84

    That's the one Durham wanted.

Sam Robson feathers a catch to the keeper and his 160-ball vigil is over.

He added 63 with Max Holden, who has now been joined by John Simpson.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Duke b McAndrew 48 (Yorks 383-8 v Warwicks 244)

Harry Duke misses out on a third first-class fifty as his off stump is flattened by Nathan McAndrew.

The Australian does a little one-legged donkey kick by way of celebration.

    Yorkshire's lead is 139.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Vasconcelos c Linde b Stevens 71 (Northants 134-4 v Kent 519-9 dec)

A disappointing dismissal for the Northants skipper as he clips an unthreatening delivery by Darren Stevens to George Linde at square leg.

He hit 10 fours in his 148-ball innings and departs with his side still 385 in arrears. Rob Keogh is the new man at the crease.

  16. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Northants 127-3 v Kent 519-9 dec

Take a few minutes to 'have a look' - no need.

Ricardo Vasconcelos is up and running after lunch with two fours off Darren Stevens and a brace in the next over, bowled by Matt Quinn.

There was nothing flamboyant about any of them, they were just despatched with the minimum of fuss between point and mid-off.

Vasconcelos is now 67 not out.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Jennings b Porter 0 (Lancashire 103 & 2-1 f/o v Essex 391)

    Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

    Disastrous start for Lancashire.

Keaton Jennings is completely bamboozled by Jamie Porter's delivery which barrels into his stumps.

Jennings goes in just the second over after lunch having not scored a run from 17 balls.

It's not looking good for the hosts...

  18. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

Danny Briggs continues after lunch for the champions and a leg-stump half-volley is efficiently swished away for four by Matthew Revis. Nathan McAndrew will bowl from the other end.

Given the number of injuries among England pace bowlers, some Essex followers believe Sam Cook is unlucky not to have been given a call-up - and his four wickets at Old Trafford back up that argument.

  20. Overton rues dropped catchpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Somerset 211 v Hampshire 280 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Four more wickets for Craig Overton, to lift his season's tally to 26 at a fraction over 16 apiece.

Coming on top of his hard-hitting 44 in Somerset's first innings that can only have reinforced his claims for a starting place in the England XI to face New Zealand.

But I suspect that what was most on his mind as he walked in for lunch was the catch he put down in the gully off Aneurin Donald, who was on 29 at the time, and went to top score with 57.

It took the wind out of Somerset's sails and filled Hampshire's, who went on to secure a more than useful first innings lead of 69, with James Fuller contributing some lusty blows at the death.
