    Toby Roland-Jones take a bow!

England captain Ben Stokes is out second ball!

The Middlesex bowler picks up two wickets in three balls as Scott Borthwick (60) chops on to his stumps to bring a disappointing end to a good innings.

That brought Stokes to the crease and Roland-Jones found a thick edge, sending the ball straight to Sam Robson at second slip.

Stokes looks like he can't believe it but that's just what Middlesex needed!

  2. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 121-3

There's the chance, but wicketkeeper Harry Duke doesn't take it and Dom Bess isn't happy as a thin edge takes Sam Hain to a 188-ball half-century.

Hain has now gone past 500 Championship runs for the season.

  3. Yorkshire turn to Rootpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 116-3

Will Rhodes and Sam Hain came together when Dom Sibley was dismissed in the 13th over of Warwickshire's second innings - 53 overs later they are still together and Rhodes clips Tom Loten away through mid-wicket for four.

The partnership advances to 91 and we are going to see an over or two from Mr Joseph Root.

    Northants 412-9 v Kent 519-9 dec

Skipper Jack Leaning is now turning his arm over for Kent and is biffed away for two successive fours by Northants number 11 Ben Sanderson.

No finer shades of technique there from Sanderson - both balls were a little short and he gave them a good thump.

    Notts 358 & 106-0 v Derbyshire 260 & 262

    Haseeb HameedImage source, Rex Features

It's been plain sailing for Notts this morning and Haseeb Hameed has serenely made his way to 50 from 61 balls.

Ben Slater at the other end needs another ten to pick up a half-century of his own.

Notts now only require another 59 after Hameed sends consecutive Nick Potts deliveries to the ropes.

Derbyshire just haven't been able to budge the Notts openers and it looks like making a breakthrough now will be too little too late.

    Northants 401-9 v Kent 519-9 dec

Two leg byes are sufficient as the Northants total passes 400 at Wantage Road. George Linde is on the bring of three figures - for runs conceded - he has 0-99 from 37 overs.

    Middlesex 422 v Durham 350 & 109-3

That's the 100 up for Durham in their second innings - which didn't always look a likely proposition when they were 18-3 in the sixth over yesterday.

But it's been a different story this morning, with Scott Borthwick and Matthew Salisbury expertly navigating the troubled waters to give Durham a lead of 37.

Lewis McManus sweeps George Linde for four to reach a 148-ball 50 - his second since joining Northants on loan from Hampshire.

The club want to keep him for the rest of the season and batting like this serves to illustrate why.

Steven Patterson will no doubt be utilising the Journey approach - 'Don't Stop Believin' - to urge his Yorkshire team on as they strive for a first breakthrough of the day.

Warwickshire are still 98 behind and if they can knock one or two over in quick succession, the champions will be feeling the heat.

Dom Bess sends down a maiden to Will Rhodes who is 37 not out, with Sam Hain on 41. Their stand is worth 82.

Plenty of effort but as yet no reward for Wayne Madsen and the Derbyshire bowlers.

Notts only need another 81 runs with all ten wickets in hand thanks to the efforts of openers Haseeb Hameed (39*) and Ben Slater (36*).

    Northants 386-9 v Kent 519-9 dec

Ben Sanderson is not renowned for any batting prowess - he averaged 8.25 in first-class cricket before the start of this match - but collects two fours in three balls through the leg-side off Grant Stewart.

Lewis McManus is 43 not out at the other end.

Borthwick leading Durham fightbackpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Middlesex 422 v Durham 350 & 93-3

Durham skipper Scott Borthwick is leading the fightback against Middlesex on this final morning at a sunny and warm Lord's.

He's played some lovely attacking shots and now has 56 runs to his name. He's also helped wipe out the 72-run deficit which Durham faced when they began their second innings last night.

His partnership with nightwatchman Matt Salisbury is worth 76 runs and Durham are now 93-3, having been 18-3 last night in the first six overs, with Toby Roland-Jones taking all three wickets. Salisbury has 27.

This is Borthwick's fourth half century this year. He made 64 in the opening game at Glamorgan and in the last two matches he scored 89 at Worcester and 90 in the home game against Glamorgan. Is today the day he gets to three figures? His team certainly needs him to.

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 101-3

Will Rhodes cuts Dom Bess away for four but he's slightly lucky as an edge wide of second slip brings him two more runs to take the total past 100. The Warwickshire deficit is now 103.

    Berg b Stewart 16 (Northants 376-9 v Kent 519-9 dec)

Grant Stewart has his third wicket of the innings, knocking two stumps out of the ground, one of which cartwheels back a few yards towards fine leg.

Number 11 Ben Sanderson comes out to bat for Northants.

  15. 50 runs

for Scott Borthwickpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 22 May 2022

    Middlesex 422 v Durham 350 & 73-3

Mentioning he was close to a half-century didn't jinx Scott Borthwick as he reaches his 50 from 81 balls.

Durham needed his innings after their top three batters amassed only seven runs between them.

Borthwick's side are now leading by one.

A quick update from Hove where Sussex are 37-0 following New Zealand's declaration on 342-3. Tom Haines is 27 not out and this is a chance for him, potentially, to further his international ambitions.

No breakthrough for Middlesex in the opening hour of play.

Durham's Scott Borthwick is approaching his half-century and Matthew Salisbury is on 13 from 51 balls.

Durham are now only trailing by one run so will be looking to build a positive score as the morning session goes on.

Haseeb Hameed is the aggressor as Notts move towards their target.

The England batter has helped himself to a few boundaries this morning and is now on 35 from 40 balls.

Ben Slater's slightly slower 29 from 54 means they only require another 94 runs.

Gareth Berg likes to give the ball a clout and he certainly clouted that one.

The all-rounder takes a couple of steps down the pitch and hoists George Linde over mid-on for a maximum.

Let's hope we see a few more like that if this game is heading towards a draw. The follow-on has been avoided.
