    Bracey st Rossington b Harmer 6 (Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 76-4)

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

James Bracey doesn't seem convinced by that - and as a keeper, he should perhaps know - but the square leg umpire upholds a slick stumping by Adam Rossington.

Four wickets gone, all four to Simon Harmer. Gloucestershire need another 99 to avoid an innings defeat. There are 11 overs of play left after this one.

  2. 50 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Lancs 133-0 v Somerset 446

Superb response so far from Lancashire.

Keaton Jennings gets to 50 in 130 balls with five fours and a six.

Five overs for on-loan Amar Virdi but he's gone for 24 in four of them with one maiden.

    10 overs left at Southport.

up for Kentpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Kent 251-5 v Northants 303

No further damage so far for Kent against the second new ball.

Jordan Cox is there on 45 and with Sam Billings, has brought up a second point.

Just seven overs to go so the finish will be, well, when the day is supposed to finish.

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 137-1

Having been caught off a Shannon Gabriel no-ball, Rory Burns advances to 76 not out by taking a couple of steps out of his crease and driving Dom Bess through cover for four.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Hammond b Harmer 20 (Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 54-3)

    The maestro* strikes again.

It's pretty much identical to the ball which bowled Marcus Harris earlier in the innings.

Not much Miles Hammond could have done - it was just too good.

*perhaps not the best choice of word, we used to drive an Austin Maestro and it's performance bore little relation to the way Harmer plays cricket

  7. 50 runs

for Ben Brownpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Hampshire 334-8 v Warwicks 217

Ben Brown is forced onto the back foot by Nathan McAndrew but a thick outside edge finds the boundary and carries him to an 86-ball fifty. Brown has gone past 550 Championship runs for the season in this innings. Hampshire lead by 117.

  8. Postpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 132-1

The words going through Shannon Gabriel's head probably aren't best repeated after he has Rory Burns caught at slip - but it's called no-ball. He has sent down nine in the innings so far.

  9. Postpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 52-2

A freebie for Miles Hammond from Simon Harmer and he cuts it away for four to take the Gloucestershire total past 50 and move on to 19 not out.

Hammond is looking to score whenever the opportunity presents itself - as it just did - while Chris Dent appears content to grind it out at the other end.

  10. Postpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 130-1

Two cover drives bring Hashim Amla two fours off Dom Bess.

It really is hard work for bowlers on this North Marine Road pitch.

Amla has 11 and Rory Burns is 72 not out.

  11. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 116-1

Shannon Gabriel is into his second spell for Yorkshire but is still having problems with over-stepping.

There's another no-ball in his latest over and Rory Burns takes a single to advance to 72, with new partner Hashim Amla on two.

  12. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

Tom Mackintosh made a debut half-century but he has gone now for 51 and they are 248-9 against Derbyshire.

Another newcomer, Matthew Montgomery, has been bowled for 80 by Michael Neser, and Notts are 284-8 against Glamorgan.

Middlesex are gradually extending their lead over Worcestershire - they are 137-4, 134 in front.

Louis Kimber has reached an impressive 50 for Leicestershire, who are 84-1 after Sussex piled up 588-9.

  13. 100 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Lancs 101-0 v Somerset 446

Luke Wells swept Roelof van der Merwe hard for four to reach a half-century in 95 balls with nine boundaries.

He's 67 and Keaton Jennings alongside him on 30.

Solid stuff from the Lancashire openers so far.

17 overs remaining in the day at Southport.

  14. Postpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Hampshire 303-8 v Warwicks 217

A baseball shot by James Fuller who finds the mid-wicket boundary off Nathan McAndrew, and there is Hampshire's third batting point.

Fuller has five and the reliable Ben Brown is 40 not out.

WICKET Leaning c McManus b Sanderson 63published at 17:09 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Kent 236-5 v Northants 303

The second new ball arrives and in the second over with it Ben Sanderson strikes.

Jack Leaning tries to cut a ball probably too full to do so and gets a feather edge behind.

Solid knock but now an end open for Northants with a new ball in their hands.

  16. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 35-2

Chris Dent is hanging on grimly at Chelmsford but his heart must have been his mouth as an outside edge fell just short of first slip and ran away for four.

Almost a third wicket for Simon Harmer there, but Dent is 14 not out.

Gloucestershire's deficit is now 139 and there are 21 overs left in the day's play.

    Barker b McAndrew 16 (Hampshire 291-8 v Warwicks 217)

"Hampshire have settled things down...." said the previous entry.

We can only apologise - as Keith Barker follows the example of team-mate Aneurin Donald earlier on by playing onto his stumps.

That's three wickets for Nathan McAndrew now.

    Kent 236-4 v Northants 303

The stand between Jack Leaning, on 63, and Jordan Cox, 38, is now worth three figures.

Excellent work to perhaps put Kent on top again.

15 overs left in the day so Northants bang on course to bowl the overs in time.

For which, bonus points should be awarded.

    Hampshire 288-7 v Warwicks 217

Hampshire have settled things down following the loss of two wickets either side of tea and Keith Barker whips Will Rhodes away for four in the Bears all-rounder's latest over.

He is 16 not out against his former club, with Ben Brown on 30.
