    Patel st Tattersall b Bess 29 9Yorks 521 v Surrey 102-1)

What a match Jonny Tattersall is having.

An unbeaten 180 in Yorkshire's first innings and now a stumping.

It wasn't a difficult chance after Ryan Patel decided to give Dom Bess the charge but failed to make contact with a big swing.

An unnecessary dismissal as far as Surrey are concerned.

  2. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

Durham debutants Tom Mackintosh and Stanley McAlindon are together and the former is just two runs short of a debut 50, with their side 236-8 against Derbyshire.

Matthew Montgomery has progressed to 74 not out and Notts are 274-5 in the 78th over against Glamorgan.

Middlesex are 112-4 against Worcestershire at Northwood, a lead of 109 - Robbie White and John Simpson are the not out batters.

Louis Kimber now has 38 in Leicestershire's 53-1, replying to Sussex's mammoth 588-9.

Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorks 521 v Surrey 100-0

That's too short by Dom Bess and Ryan Patel rocks back before cutting it away for four.

The next ball is quicker and flatter but Patel spots it early and hoists it magnificently over long-on for six.

Surrey reach 100 and Patel is 29 not out.

    Higgins c Browne b Harmer 0 (Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 26-2)

That isn't the greatest of deliveries by Simon Harmer, but Ryan Higgins clips it straight at Nick Browne, fielding at short leg, and he manages to grab it at the third or fourth attempt.

Great piece of work - but it's looking like Gloucestershire might struggle to survive the day.

    Hants 273-7 v Warwicks 217

We had four boundaries in an over by Surrey's Rory Burns earlier on.

Ben Brown can't quite match him but does collects three in four balls from George Garrett for Hampshire.

The second is a little streaky as Garrett finds the edge but Brown is now 28 not out and Hampshire lead by 56.

    Harris b Harmer 17 (Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 22-1)

You know it's coming, you just don't know when.

By that, we mean the near-impossible ball from Simon Harmer.

Marcus Harris goes back in defence, but it spins away from him and hits off stump.

He is 19 not out and Rory Burns has 50.

    Sussex 588 v Leics 42-1 - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

You have to feel for Hassan Azad.

Having watched Sussex pile up 588 for 9 in 142 overs, the Leicestershire opener was then caught first ball in the slips by Tom Alsop off Steve Finn.

Thereafter Rishi Patel and Louis Kimber saw the visitors safely to tea.

It’s going to be a long haul if Leicestershire are to save this game, but on a good pitch the Sussex bowlers will have to work hard for their wickets

    Kent 200-4 v Northants 303

    He's 47 not out.

    Donald b OHD 0 (Hampshire 253-7 v Warwicks 217)

They are back out at the Ageas Bowl and Hampshire are looking to regroup following the loss of Liam Dawson for 92 to the final ball before tea.

They suffer another setback, though, as Aneurin Donald plays on to Oliver Hannon-Dalby for a seven-ball zero.

The lead is just 36 as Keith Barker joins Ben Brown. Two very experienced campaigners now together.

  11. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 14-0

A couple of Marcus Harris boundaries apart, it's been pretty tight stuff so far from the Essex attack - and Simon Hamer has already been brought on to bowl the sixth over of the innings. It's a maiden.

There has been no resumption at Sophia Gardens because of rain which sent them off a couple of minutes early for tea.

Matthew Montgomery is 68 not out and they hope to re-start in a couple of minutes.

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 80-0

Rory Burns pulls the final ball before tea for four and reaches a 59-ball half-century.

He has eight boundaries in total and Surrey have made a positive start in response to the big Yorkshire total.

Adam Lyth made 183 for the home side and Jonny Tattersall was left on 180 not out when their last two wickets fell to consecutive deliveries by Tom Lawes.

  15. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorks 521 v Surrey 71-0

Third man, mid-wicket, backward point, square leg - a sudden burst of scoring at Scarborough as Rory Burns hits four fours in the same Matthew Waite over.

Better than any of them, though, is an elegant cover drive by Ryan Patel off Steven Patterson in the next.

    Back in business at Chelmsford.

Jamie Porter takes the new ball and there are three singles from his opening over.

Another 171 needed by Gloucestershire to avoid an innings defeat.

  17. Tea at Southportpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Lancs 47-0 v Somerset 446

Nicely done by Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells to diffuse Somerset's energy after they made only their third score over 400 this season.

Platform set, can this Lancashire pair kick on for the rest of the day? Still a long way to go to get back in the contest.

Wells is 30, Jennings is 15 and it's Vicky Sponge all round.

Durham have two teenage debutants in the middle now. 19-year-old Tom Mackintosh has 34 and 18-year Stanley McAlindon, who has just replaced Ben Raine, is on one.

Raine had put on 67 much needed runs for the eighth wicket with Mackintosh when he decided to try and slog sweep Alex Thompson the spinner and top edged him to first slip. He was on 36 at the time.

Raine joins Liam Trevaskis, Nic Maddinson, David Bedingham, Michael Jones and Scott Borthwick who have all got themselves out to poor shots today. Tea is now two overs away.

Superb shot by Ryan Patel who punches Steven Patterson through mid-on for four as Surrey's total passes 50, without any loss.

Another 13 minutes to go until tea following this morning's delayed start.

    Dawson lbw OHD 92 (Hampshire 249-6 v Warwicks 217)

A second Hampshire batsman falls in the 90s as Liam Dawson is leg-before to Oliver Hannon-Dalby - and that is tea at the Ageas Bowl.

Following Ian Holland's earlier dismissal for 99, Dawson hit 12 fours in his 164-ball innings - but a second century of the season eluded him.

Hannon-Dalby now has 3-60 from 24.1 overs - and Hampshire's lead is 32. A good fightback by the 2021 champions.
