    Hampshire 138-4 v Warwicks 217

Back in business at the Ageas Bowl.

Will Rhodes has the ball and his first delivery is wide and full of length.

Liam Dawson swings the bat through the line and smacks it to the cover boundary. Hampshire are up and running again.

    Jonny TattersallImage source, Rex Features

Jonny Tattersall puts away a Ryan Patel full toss and the morning session ends at North Marine Road with a cover drive to the boundary by Jordan Thompson.

Tattersall is 161 not out, having earlier lost overnight partner Adam Lyth for 183, caught at square leg off Conor McKerr.

Little to smile about for Surrey, for whom Jamie Overton has figures of 0-104 from 25 overs.

Jonny Tattersall is 156 not out and has now been joined by Jordan Thompson.

    Jack BrooksImage source, Rex Features

Jack Brooks scored a century against Lancashire when he was playing for Yorkshire back in 2017, and from the way he's been batting this morning, you would think he may have a repeat performance in mind.

He and the irrepressible Roelof van der Merwe have so far added 35 for the ninth wicket, spreading frustration through the Lancashire ranks when they must have thought they would be batting before lunch after removing Lewis Gregory for 42 and Lewis Goldsworthy, caught down the leg-side for 130.

400 is probably only a par score on this pitch and outfield, but thanks to Brooks and van der Merwe, the momentum is with Somerset.

for Jonny Tattersallpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Yorkshire 459-6 v Surrey

Play is continuing at Scarborough after 40 minutes were lost to rain this morning.

Jonny Tattersall and Dom Bess have both found the boundary in Jamie Overton's latest over and the England fast bowler has now conceded over 100 runs without taking a wicket.

Tattersall's four through mid-wicket brought up his 150 off 297 balls and Bess is 13 not out

    Glamorgan 318 v Notts 130-1

    Nick Webb
    BBC Wales Sport

It’s been advantage Notts in the first session as they added 111 runs for the loss of Ben Slater, bowled by James Harris for 31.

He hit a couple of beefy pulls off Michael Neser but played down the wrong line to one from first change bowler James Harris that kept a touch low.

Haseeb Hameed has played a classic red-ball innings, mixing watchful defence with some elegant cover drives in his 66 not out, while Championship debutant Matt Montgomery has looked assured for his 28.

Before play, Glamorgan awarded a county cap to stalwart all-rounder Andrew Salter, who is in his 10th season with the club.

    Sussex 513-5 v Leicestershire

    BBC Sussex

    Delray RawlinsImage source, Rex Features

A morning of consolidation for Sussex who have added 106 for the loss of Ollie Carter, who played on to Callum Parkinson for 75.

Carter shared a partnership of 109 with Delray Rawlins who, in the main, has curbed his usual attacking instincts to reach 63 not out, apart from one huge straight six off the bowling of Ed Barnes.

Leicestershire have toiled away on what is an excellent pitch, the only question being how long will Sussex bat and if they will decide to declare.

Sir Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

Tom Price picked up a couple of Essex wickets but it has been a good morning for the hosts, with Alastair Cook 104 not out at lunch.

He put on 196 with Tom Westley, who was bowled for 90 by a superb delivery from Price, who followed up with the wicket of Dan Lawrence.

Essex's lead is 86 and they will be looking for another batting point or two during the afternoon session.

  10. Bedingham and Maddinson rebuildpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Durham 87-4 v Derbyshire 283 - lunch

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

After a difficult morning in which Durham found themselves 38-4 after 15 overs, Nic Maddinson and David Bedingham have managed to steady the ship. They have put on 49 runs in 89 balls.

It always looked like it could be a tough morning for the batsmen, in muggy conditions and heavy cloud cover. While the ball which got Alex Lees LBW nipped back sharply from Ben Aitchison, two of the wickets were self inflicted.

After Lees fell for five skipper Scott Borthwick (13) left a ball from Toby Pettman which always looked like it was going to clip his off stump and it did.

Michael Jones (10) was caught at first slip chasing a wide delivery from Sam Conners which he should have left well alone.

  11. Lunch at Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Hampshire 134-4 v Warwicks 217

A solid morning's batting by Hampshire, who add 92 in the session for the loss of Kyle Abbott.

Ian Holland plays out an Oliver Hannon-Dalby maiden to go into lunch on 60 not out.

Liam Dawson has 30 and together they have added 56 in 18 overs since Abbott was lbw to Nathan McAndrew for 19.

  12. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Kent 74-2 v Northants 303

    An even morning.

Kent are going okay in reply to Northants middling total.

Zak Crawley and Daniel Bell-Drummond out cheaply but Ben Compton, becalmed on 19 from 69 balls, takes lunch with Joe Denly, far more fluent on 29 with seven fours.

  13. Lunch at Southportpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Lancs v Somerset 400-8

A really good session for Somerset building on their overnight 297-5.

Lewis Goldsworthy fell for 130 and his namesake Gregory made a sprightly 42 but from 365-8 things could have ended quickly.

    Fear not.

Jack Brooks, on 25, has struck four boundaries and, with Roelof van der Merwe, 26, has nudged the visitors along a little further at Southport.

Rare big runs on the board for Somerset this season.

    Lawrence c Gohar b T Price 4 (Essex 219-3 v Gloucs 136)

Dan Lawrence tries to pull a ball from Tom Price but gets right underneath it and Zafar Gohar takes a good diving catch at mid-wicket. An opportunity for Lawrence to spend time in the middle is gone, and Paul Walter comes out to replace him.

  15. 100 runs

for Alastair Cookpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Essex 219-2 v Gloucs 136

    There it is.

Alastair Cook chops a ball from Ryan Higgins away square for four and reaches the 73rd first-class hundred of his career.

It's taken him over five hours and 236 balls faced, and featured 12 boundaries.

Form is temporary - class is permanent.

WICKETpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

    Lyth c Lawes b McKerr 183 (Yorkshire 430-6 v Surrey)

The pull shot, which has proved so effective for Adam Lyth, is his undoing as Tom Lawes takes the catch to end his 306-ball innings.

The left-hander hit four sixes and 26 fours in a superb exhibition, adding 305 with Jonny Tattersall, who remains on 135.

That beats the club record sixth-wicket stand, previously 296 by Lyth and Adil Rashid in the 2014 Roses match at Old Trafford.

    Westley b T Price 90 (Essex 203-2 v Gloucs)

Relief for Gloucestershire as Tom Westley - with a century there for the taking - is bowled by a beauty from Tom Price, which does enough off the pitch to beat his defensive stroke and clip the top of off stump.

Westley's stand with Alastair Cook - who is 96 not out - was worth 196.

  18. 6 runs

Conor McKerr digs in a short one, Adam Lyth swivels and absolutely flays it over square leg for six.

It's the fourth maximum of his innings and the left-hander is now 178, with Jonny Tattersall on 131. The partnership stands at 295.

    Ian HollandImage source, Rex Features

That must be a weight off his shoulders - Ian Holland flicks Danny Briggs away for a single to complete only his second Championship 50 of the season from 131 balls.

The right-hander has seven fours so far and Hampshire need him to continue holding the innings together if they are to establish a lead.

Division Two round-up: Rawlins reaches 50published at 12:27 British Summer Time 12 July 2022

Delray Rawlins has passed 50 for Sussex, who are 484-4 against Leicestershire - and he has so far added 104 with Oli Carter, who has 71.

Australian Nic Maddinson is 13 not out in his first Championship innings for Durham, who are 68-4 in the 20th over.

Matthew Montgomery is playing his maiden first-class innings for Notts, who are 105-1 after 30 overs against Glamorgan.

Ed Barnard and Josh Baker have taken Worcestershire to the brink of a first-innings lead at Northwood - they are 186-7 and just two runs behind Middlesex.
