    Who'd be a bowler?

No fewer than 11 batters scored centuries today (if we have counted correctly), capped by Keaton Jennings' magnificent 318 for Lancashire against Somerset and Ed Pollock's astounding 67-ball ton as Worcestershire beat Middlesex..

It wasn't all doom and gloom for the bowlers, though, with Simon Harmer taking 15 wickets in Essex's win over Gloucestershire, and Chris Rushworth has 11 so far for Durham against Derbyshire.

    Yorkshire 521 & 65-2 v Surrey 515

George Hill takes a single to move to 33 and James Wharton is content to block out the last five balls of Will Jacks' over to end the day at North Marine Road.

Having resumed on 281-3, Surrey got within six runs of the Yorkshire first-innings total, thanks chiefly to England pair Rory Burns (132) and Ben Foakes (86 not out)

Dom Bess took 5-126 but he was one of two batters dismissed by Jamie Overton just before stumps.

Yorkshire lead by 71 - but a couple of early wickets in the morning and Surrey will believe victory is a possibility.

Late in the day it may be but England fast bowler Jamie Overton has his first wicket of the match.

A little bit of extra bounce and Adam Lyth edges to the keeper, removing his bottom hand from the handly as it flies through.

Dom Bess comes out as nightwatchman.

    Kent 335 v Northants 303 & 284-5

Ryan Rickelton safely navigates the final over of the day at Canterbury, bowled by Jack Leaning. The South African international is 101 not out of the close, and Northants lead by 252.

It has been a good day for the visitors, who took the remaining five Kent wickets this morning fairly quickly, and then set about setting a total for Kent to chase.

Jimmy Neesham also batted nicely for his 91, whilst Grant Stewart was the pick of Kent's bowlers with 2-51.

  9. Postpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

He has two hundreds in two games for Northants now, which isn't a bad record.

    Yorkshire 521 & 48-0 v Surrey 515

Play is continuing at Scarborough and as it has been since the start on Monday, the batters are on top.

George Hill Collects a single in Jamie Overton's latest over and is 20 not out. Adam Lyth has 23 and there are five overs remaining.

  12. Close of play at Ageas Bowlpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Hampshire 370-9 dec v Warwickshire 217 & 212-9

That three-wicket burst by Keith Barker in the evening session may well lead to a final-day victory for Hampshire - but Danny Briggs and George Garrett survive the final over at the Ageas Bowl.

Barker has 4-23 from 18 overs and despite some defiant batting, no-one managed more than Michael Burgess' 58 for the 2021 champions.

They lead by just 59 and barring an unlikely Briggs/Garrett partnership and/or a prolonged spell of rain, it appears to be just a matter of time before Hampshire seal their sixth win of the season.

  13. Close of play at Riversidepublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Derbyshire 283 & 329-6 v Durham 296

Derbyshire lead by 316 with one day remaining at the Riverside following centuries by Leus du Plooy and Brooke Guest.

They came together at 36-4 and shared a stand of 248 with du Plooy making 134 - his second hundred of the game - and Guest 116.

Chris Rushworth has taken 11 wickets in the game for Durham, but others proved expensive in Derbyshire's second innings.

The question now is: when will the declaration come?

  14. Close of play at Cardiffpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Glamorgan 318 & 421-5 dec v Notts 285 & 19-1

Ben Slater pulls a short one from Michael Neser for four in the final over of play at Sophia Gardens as Notts avoid further damage following the downfall of Haseeb Hameed.

Having been set a target of 455, they theoretically need 436 more on day four, but survival may be their main order of business.

Eddie Byrom made 144 off 204 balls and Sam Northeast finished unbeaten on 105 as Glamorgan passed 400 in their second innings before David Lloyd made the declaration.

George Garrett comes out at number 11 for the Bears, who are just 53 in front.

  17. Close of play at Southportpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Lancs 624-9 v Somerset 446

Keaton Jenning's wicket was the last action of the day at Southport - Lancashire lead by 178 runs, and have given Somerset the run-around all day.

The question overnight is whether Lancashire bother coming out to bat in the morning, or if they stick Somerset in...

  18. Postpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Hampshire 370-9 dec v Warwicks 217 & 205-8

Danny Briggs and Oliver Hannon-Dalby are clinging on grimly to try and see it to the close for Warwickshire.

The Bears lead by 52 and there are three overs to come.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Jennings c Siddle b Van der Merwe 318 (Lancs 624-9 v Somerset 446)

Every single person watching at Southport, including the Somerset players, applaud Keaton Jennings from the field as he falls for 318.

It is the highest score for Lancashire in a home game, overtaking Jason Gallian's 312.

    A wonderful innings.

  20. Close of play at Hovepublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Sussex 588 v Leics 529-4

This game is almost certainly destined for a draw. Indeed, it would require something truly remarkable, one of the all-time great collapses, for anything other than a draw.

The main story from today's play is the three magnificent hundreds by Leicestershire's Louis Kimber, Colin Ackermann and Wiaan Mulder. Ackermann and Mulder are not out at the close, and will look for further landmarks tomorrow.

There was also heartbreak for opener Rishi Patel, who fell just one short of a maiden first-class hundred.
