The Ed Pollock show continues at Northwood as he bisects two fielders on the leg-side boundary to take the Worcestershire total past 100.

    Jacks b Thompson 7 (Yorks 521 v Surrey 307-5)

I wonder if Will Jacks watched team-mate Jason Roy playing for England against India yesterday.

If so, he achieves a carbon copy of Roy's dismissal by dragging a wide ball into his stumps. At least he managed seven runs, though.

Aaron Hardie is the new batter and carves Jordan Thompson square for four.

  3. Division Two round-uppublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

Brooke Guest and Leus du Plooy have both now passed 50 for Derbyshire, who are 137-4 - a lead over Durham of 124.

Eddie Byrom and Colin Ingram are still together for Glamorgan, who are 214-1 - a lead over Notts of 247 - with Byrom 122 not out.

Leicestesrhire have just lost a wicket at Hove, with Lewis Hill caught and bowled for 10 by Steven Finn, but Colin Ackermann is 63 not out in their 279-4.

    Worcs 92-1 - target 238

Having posted 50 from only 40 deliveries, Ed Pollock flicks Tom Helm into the marquees at backward square leg for six.

Middlesex need to see the back of him if they are to win this game.

    Vasconcelos c Billings b Stewart 19 (Kent 335 v Northants 303 & 38-2)

Two wickets in quick succession for Kent, who are well on top now at Canterbury.

More lovely bowling from Grant Stewart to find Ricardo Vasconcelos' outside edge, and Sam Billings gobbles it up.

  6. Browne seals Essex winpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

Essex beat Gloucestershire by nine wickets

Just to dot the is and cross the ts on events at Chelmsford, the end came with a bit of a rush.

Nick Browne hit two successive boundaries off Miles Hammond and then nudged a single past slip to take them to their target of 79 and finish unbeaten on 43.

Tom Westley added 21 not out to his 90 in the first innings and Essex take 22 points for their fourth Championship win of the season.

    Lancs 284-1 v Somerset 446

There are runs aplenty on this Southport pitch, and Josh Bohannon is tucking in.

A clip off his legs for two brings up his half-century from 101 balls.

    Essex 310 & 79-1 v Gloucestershire 136 & 79-1

    Glenn Speller
    BBC Essex sport

Another Essex win at fortress Chelmsford.

This was based around a century from Sir Alastair Cook and 90 from Tom Westley in the first innings and, inevitably, Simon Harmer’s box of spinning tricks.

The Gloucestershire batters, like so many before them, found the home side’s South African magician too much to handle as he followed-up 15-207 against Hampshire with 13-156.

With a game in hand, Essex are in the title conversation with two big weeks coming-up against Surrey at The Oval and then back at home against Somerset. The good news is, Harmer will be available for both before heading off on international duty.

As for Gloucestershire, they must take huge credit for extending the game beyond lunch on day three with Zafar aggregating 110 runs and five wickets but their Summer looks like being a long slog as they search for a first Championship win.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Libby c Simpson b Helm 31 (Worcs 85-1 - target 237)

Worcestershire's impressive opening stand comes to an end - Jake Libby flashes hard at a short, wide delivery from Tom Helm, but can only edge through to John Simpson.

Taylor Cornall joins Ed Pollock, who has moved past 50.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Burns b Gabriel 132 (Yorks 521 v Surrey 284-4)

The new ball does the trick for Yorkshire.

Rory Burns is beaten for pace as Shannon Gabriel flattens his off stump, ending an excellent 260-ball innings that featured 19 fours.

The Tykes will be looking to bag another couple in short order now.

  11. Essex nearly therepublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Essex 65-1 - target 79

Job almost done now for Essex as Nick Browne cover drives Miles Hammond for four.

A single from the next delivery takes him to 31 not out and brings up a 50 partnership with Tom Westley.

    Gay c Compton b Stewart 17 (Kent 335 v Northants 303 & 35-1)

    Emilio Gay will be furious.

An inconspicuous ball from Grant Stewart drifts onto his pads, but he can only chip a catch to Ben Compton at mid-wicket.

    Northants are essentially 3-1 now.

    Mousley lbw Dawson 11 (Hants 370-9 dec v Warwicks 217 & 81-3)

Extravagant turn out of the footmarks for Liam Dawson as Dan Mousley is pinned on the back foot in front of the stumps. Zero doubt about that one.

Warwickshire still need another 72 to make Hampshire bat again as Will Rhodes comes to the crease.

  14. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Middlesex 188 & 240 v Worcs 191 & 66-0

We have ourselves a run-chase at Northwood, where Worcs have moved swiftly to 66-0 after 13 overs needing 237 to win.

Ed Pollock looks in great touch, and has 40 from 35 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Hampshire 370-9 dec v Warwicks 217 & 76-2

Dan Mousley moves into double figures with a nice-looking cover drive off Kyle Abbott for four. Straight out of an old coaching manual. Alex Davies is 36 not out at the other end.

  16. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Yorks 521 v Surrey283-3

West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has the new ball in hand at Scarborough. He avoids over-stepping in this over and concedes just two runs to Ben Foakes.

  17. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Essex 51-1 - target 79

A couple of singles for Essex off Zafar Gohar to start the afternoon session. Miles Hammond will bowl from the other end.

  18. Postpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

As we wait for play to resume at Chelmsford, where Essex need another 30 runs for victory, an interesting stat.

  19. Lancashire make most of fast outfieldpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Lancashire 271-1 v Somerset 446

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

If ever there was a day for batting then then this is it - bright sunshine, a flat pitch, lightning fast outfield and balls that go soft after 25 overs - and Lancashire are making the most of it.

Both openers, Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings, have completed centuries and Josh Bohannon is well on his way to making it three in a row.

Somerset's bowlers and fielders have stuck to their guns, but the wicket of Wells, caught behind off Jack Brooks, has been their only reward.
