    Lancs 232-1 v Somerset 446

Keaton Jennings has been in the nineties for a long time now, but seems fairly unflustered as he creeps towards a 23rd first-class hundred.

Josh Bohannon is 20 from 37 balls at the other end, and looking good.

Josh Shaw follows the lead of Zafar Gohar by lifting Simon Harmer over mid-wicket for six.

Next ball, he tries to repeat it but this time picks out Shane Snater in the deep.

Harmer finished with 8-112 and match figures of 13-156.

Essex will need 79 to win.

Full credit to Gloucestershire for taking the game to Essex. They added 112 runs this morning with Zafar finding the Chelmsford car park and the marquee among his three sixes. Simon Harmer took a bit of punishment but follows up his 15-207 against Hampshire the last time at Chelmsford with 13-156 this time around. The pitch did not offer much to the Essex bowlers but the crowd, who were given free entry, cannot argue with what they have seen so far."

    Milnes c Cobb b Sanderson (Kent 335 v Northants 303)

Kent are all-out for 335 at Canterbury, having lost their final two wickets in the space of three balls. They have a first-innings lead of 32.

Sam Billings fell to Jack White, trying to run the ball down to third, but only succeeding in guiding the ball to Ricardo Vasconcelos at slip.

Two balls later, Matt Milnes has a big swipe at Ben Sanderson, and is safely caught in the deep by Josh Cobb.

Back to back fours for Chris Benjamin off James Fuller and he adds two runs at the start of the next over from Keith Barker to take the Warwickshire total to 50.

Still only the one wicket to fall today - Benjamin is 21 not out and Alex Davies is 24.

    Gohar st Rossington b Harmer 81 (Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 244-9)

Essex have the field spread far and wide for Zafar Gohar, but he goes for another big shot, only to be beaten by some turn for Simon Harmer and Asdam Rossington whips off the bails.

That's 12 wickets in the game now for Harmer, but that was an excellent attacking knock by Gohar, who hit three sixes and 10 fours in his 75 balls faced.

They lead by 70 as Josh Shaw comes out.

  8. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

Glamorgan's openers are ticking along nicely in their second innings. They are 112-0, leading Notts by 145 runs - David Lloyd has 46 and Eddie Byrom 62.

At Northwood, Umesh Yadav is impressing on debut for Middlesex. The India international is known for his bowling, but is no mug with the bat either. He is 43 not out from 39 balls - Middlesex are 239-9, leading Worcestershire by 236 runs.

Chris Rushworth's bowling heroics have Durham well and truly in the ascendancy against Derby, who are four down in their second innings, leading by just 31.

Meanwhile, down in Hove, Leicestershire are going well in response to Sussex's 588. Louis Kimber fell earlier for a well-made 104, but Rishi Patel and Colin Ackermann have taken the visitors to 209-2.

    Amla c Lyth b Thompson 79 (Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 243-2)

Hashim Amla was batting so well, that's something of a surprise.

He tries to drive Jordan Thompson and Adam Lyth, a safe pair of hands in the slips, dives to his right to take the catch.

Amla put on 141 with Rory Burns, who is still there on 111.

    Go, go, Gohar.

Having just reached his 50, the Gloucestershire all-rounder swings Matt Critchley away for six - and when the spinner drops short three balls later, hammers his second maximum of the over.

That's a 50 partnership with Matt Taylor from just 45 balls and Essex certainly wouldn't have been expecting this at the start of play.

    Yorkshire 521 v Surrey 226-1

As well as the quality we mentioned earlier, Hashim Amla also has dexterity, which he demonstrates by twice paddling Dom Bess away fine for four in the space of three deleivries.

The South African is now 71, with partner Rory Burns on 102, and their stand is so far worth 124.

    Essex 310 v Gloucs 136 & 213-8

Gloucestershire may be facing a likely defeat but Zafar Gohar is certainly doing his bit for them.

He follows his five-wicket haul in Essex's first innings by swinging Matt Critchley away for six to reach a 53-ball fifty.

It's the left-hander's third of the season and the visitors are now 39 in front.

Well, well, well - a reverse sweep and a lofted drive down the ground bring two fours for Zafar Gohar off Simon Harmer.

Matt Taylor attempts an agricultural mow later in the over and makes good enough contact for a boundary of his own.

Gloucestershire are doing their level best to rough up Harmer's figures, but we're sure he'll be happy enough with 6-95.

  16. for Chris Rushworthpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 13 July 2022

    Durham 296 v Derbyshire 283 & 36-4

    He is just so consistent.

Chris Rushworth finds a way past Wayne Madsen's defensive bat and he goes leg-before.

It's the fifth time the Durham seamer has taken 10 wickets in a first-class match.

    Kent 311-7 v Northants 303

Kent have gone past Northants' first-innings score, but now lose George Linde.

It's a good piece of bowling from Ben Sanderson, pitching it up and enticing the drive from Linde, who nicks through to keeper Lewis McManus.

    Matt CritchleyImage source, Rex Features

He was roughly treated by Tom Price in his last over, but Simon Harmer has his man.

Price aims for his favourite spot at cow corner, but this one is outside the off stump and he doesn't achieve the necessary elevation as Matt Critchley runs round to take the catch.

Six in the innings now for Harmer, 11 in the match.

    Quality.

Hashim Amla drives Steven Patterson straight, the ball just missing the stumps at the bowler's end as it runs away for four.

The next delivery is shorter and Amla goes onto the back foot to force it away through the covers for another. He is now 61 not out.
