  1. Ollie Price on the attackpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 77-1 lead by 172

Just the one runs comes from the Jack Brooks over. He's bowled nine for just 15.

    Single to Charlesworth.

Ollie Price misjudges the line from Gregory and is beaten outside off stump.

That's more like it from the batter, who moves into double figures with a lovely drive down the ground for four. Four more through extra cover.

Gregory bangs the ball in short and that's four more with a pull to mid wicket. 13 off the over.

    Notts 201 & 390-7 dec v Leics 93 & 114-5

Steven Mullaney comes in for the ninth over of his spell - with a rest for lunch in the middle - but Ed Barnes smacks an away swinger to the cover boundary. Mullaney now has figures of 3-24.

  3. wicket

WICKET Robinson c Rossington b Cook 15published at 13:50 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Kent 164 & 19-1 v Essex 573

It’s taken only until the sixth over for Essex to strike in Kent’s second innings.

And we’ve seen this a few times today.

Ollie Robinson pushes out at a fullish ball he can probably leave and nicks it behind.

  4. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 63-1 lead by 158

Soft hands from Charlesworth, who controls a thick edge off Jack Brooks and the ball runs away wide of the slips and down to third man for four.

Gregory begins his ninth over overstepping for a no ball and bowls a tight off stump line thereafter.

Ollie Price tries to drive the covers but can't quite beat the infield.

  5. Division Two updatepublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

No wickets since lunch for Durham, with Derbyshire progressing to 71-2, a lead of 154. Billy Godleman is 17 not out and Wayen Madsen has seven.

The players are still off the field in Cardiff because of rain. Glamorgan are waiting to resume on 172-5 against Worcestershire.

    Notts 201 & 390-7 dec v Leics 93 & 102-5

    Luke FletcherImage source, Rex Features

That's a bit of a freebie for Luke Fletcher.

He strays onto Rishi Patel's pads and the Leicestershire batter obligingly flicks it straight to Liam Patterson-White stationed at mid-wicket.

Just five more wickets needed by Notts.

  7. Postpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 57-1 lead by 152

Jack Brooks briefly loses his radar, spearing the ball wide and that's four byes.

That's what a first team scorer might refer to as a "dirty maiden".

Ollie Price tries to work Gregory into the vacant backward point region but can't connect.

The fifth ball of the over squares the batter up and strikes the pads. Not out. Too high.

  8. Kent follow-onpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Kent 164 & 0-0 v Essex 573

There was no reason not to so Kent are indeed asked to follow-on 409 runs behind.

Their first innings lasted only 50 overs - half of which were last night, so the Essex attack should still be pretty fresh.

70 overs remain today. Can Kent find something in this second innings?

  9. Postpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Notts 201 & 390-7 dec v Leics 93 & 102-4

Leicestershire continue to resist after lunch at Trent Bridge.

Steven Mullaney and Luke Fletcher are bowling in tandem and are asking plenty of questions.

Fletcher sends down a maiden to Harry Swindells in the latest over.

  10. Postpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 53-1 lead by 148

    Maiden from Brooks.

Lewis Gregory to bowl from the Pavilion End.

Ollie Price drives through extra cover for four to bring up the Gloucester 50.

  11. wicket

WICKET Sales b Barker 10published at 13:25 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Hants 400-9d v Northants 124-6

Keith Barker with the first ball after lunch and he’s straight through James Sales!

Full and straight and Sales simply misses and loses his leg stump.

  12. Afternoon session begins at Tauntonpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 49-1 lead by 141

Just the one wicket for the hosts in that mini session of play after Gloucestershire wrapped up the Somerset innings inside the first hour of play this morning.

Ben Charlesworth (18 not out) and Ollie Price (five not out) return to the middle.

No rain just yet. Long may that state of affairs continue.

Jack Brooks to bowl first to Charlesworth.

  13. wicket

WICKET KENT ALL OUTpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Kent 164 (Quinn b Snater 7) v Essex 573

The rain didn’t keep Essex at bay for too long.

Kent are all done for just 164 and that’s a pretty miserable reply after Essex racked up a huge score.

Surely they will be asked to follow-on and Kent are left with the best part of five sessions to save the game.

  14. rain stops play

No resumption in Cardiffpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Glamorgan 172-5 v Worcs 454-9 dec

The photo in Worcestershire's tweet tells you all you need to know about what is happening at Sophia Gardens.

Shubman Gill is 60 not out for the home side and Billy Root has seven.

  15. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancashire 276 v Yorkshire 233-9

A maiden by Tom Hartley to Steven Patterson brings an extended session to an end.

It's been Lancashire's morning as they have taken five Yorkshire wickets for the addition of 96 runs.

Matt Parkinson claimed the key wicket of Tom Kohler-Cadmore for 51 but Tom Bailey has taken three of the other four and has 4-56 from his 24 overs so far.

  16. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

The players' lunches must be going cold at Old Trafford...and still they go on.

Ben Coad finds the third man boundary from the final ball of Will William's over and spinner Tom Hartley continues from the other end.

Gloucestershire have built slowly but surely on their first innings lead of 95, as they look to set up a declaration which would give them enough time to bowl Somerset out for a second time.

Their only casualty so far has been first innings centurion Marcus Harris, who lost his off stump to a peach of a delivery from Josh Davey.

Ten minutes were lost at the start, but so far the threatened heavy showers have failed to materialize - a state of meteorological affairs that Gloucestershire, more than Somerset, will be hoping continues to prevail.

  20. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 222-9

Yorkshire are clinging on at Old Trafford in the hope of making it through to lunch. The latest over is a maiden from Tom Bailey to Ben Coad. He is 10 not out and Steven Patterson has two.
