  1. Lunch at the Ageas Bowlpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Hants 400-9d v Northants 124-5

    A superb morning for Hampshire.

They found it tough going yesterday afternoon with just one wicket but have found four in the first session of day three.

Northants gave them two cheap ones but often this relentless attack and draw errors.

Huge task for the visitors to try and get back in the game - still another 127 needed to avoid the follow-on.

  2. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 49-1 lead by 144

    Maiden over from Sajid Khan.

Somerset are putting the brakes on this innings. 21 runs scored off the last 10 overs.

Just one run off Aldridge at the other end and that's lunch. A solid session of play for Gloucestershire overall, but how important will those 69 runs from the last two Somerset wickets be?

  3. Calm Gill impresses on debutpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Glamorgan 172-5 v Worcs 454-9 dec - lunch

    BBC Radio Wales

A hostile spell from Dillon Pennington put Worcestershire on top in Cardiff despite a fifty on debut for Glamorgan’s Shubman Gill.

Pennington produced a snorter to bowl the in-form Sam Northeast for 10 and found the edge of Kiran Carlson’s bat with his next delivery, to claim his 100th first-class wicket.

India opener Gill, on debut, reached a calm maiden Championship fifty off 87 balls with six fours and a six, though Worcestershire cut off his boundary shots as his knock continued.

Billy Root made a cautious start as the run-rate dropped significantly, but rain drove the players off at 12:15.

  4. wicket

WICKET Bess c Balderson b Bailey 27published at 12:37 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 219-9

Four wickets in the innings for Tom Bailey as Dom Bess falls to the first ball of a new over.

The all-rounder tries to pull, but top edges and George Balderson jogs round from square leg to take a comfortable catch.

It's Bailey's 300th first-class wicket - and because Yorkshire are now nine down, lunch will be delayed.

  5. Somerset ring the changespublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 48-1 lead by 143

Somerset switch to spin as Sajid Khan takes over from Jack Brooks.

A hint of turn as Charlesworth squeezes his fifth ball out to point off the back foot.

Double change as Kasey Aldridge is brought into the attack.

Charlesworth picks up a single at square leg and Ollie Price has his first runs of the innings with a flashing back foot drive through the covers for four.

He edges the last ball of the over just past Lammonby in the slips and takes a single.

  6. wicket

WICKET Ackermann lbw Mullaney 9published at 12:32 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Notts 201 & 390-7 dec v Leics 93 & 97-4

Rishi Patel adds three runs to take Leicestershire's total past their first-innings effort, but the next ball see Colin Ackermann's departure.

Leicestershire survive the final four deliveries of Steven Mullaney's over and that is lunch.

Mullaney now has 3-15 from what has proved to be an inspired four-over spell.

  7. Postpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 217-8

Dom Bess is the key now if Yorkshire are to achieve a first-innings lead and he square cuts Will Williams for four to advance to 27 not out.

There's a boundary in the next over too as Ben Coad forces Tom Bailey through the covers off the back foot.

  8. wicket

WICKET Vasconcelos c Dawson b Abbas 9published at 12:31 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Hants 400-9d v Northants 107-5

All it took was a good night’s sleep to get Hampshire into gear.

They now have four wickets this morning and have their foot on Northants’ throats.

Ricardo Vasconcelos pushes at a full ball from round the wicket and edges to second slip.

Has to be said, the resistance hasn’t exactly been fulsome from the visitors so far today.

  9. Postpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 41-1 lead by 136

Charlesworth is beaten by a jaffa from Brooks that whistles past the shoulder of the bat off a good length.

He's bowled five overs for just 10 runs now.

Davey bowls a tight line outside off to Ollie Price, who is stuck on 0 not out off 14 balls.

  10. wicket

WICKET and LUNCHpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Kent 145-9 (Cox b Allison 34) v Essex 573

Kent almost done here as Jordan Cox, who’s watched wickets falling at the other end, falls himself.

Ben Allison has a fourth wicket of the morning now.

Rain then arrives and brings an early lunch.

  11. wicket

WICKET Kimber c Fletcher b Mullaney 16published at 12:26 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Notts 201 & 390-7 dec v Leics 93 & 91-3

Louis Kimber chips a catch to cover and Steven Mullaney has his second wicket of this spell.

That wasn't a great shot and Kimber wastes no time in heading for the dressing room.

  12. wicket

WICKET Thompson c Vilas b Bailey 4published at 12:22 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 206-8

Tom for Tom - Bailey replaces Hartley with the new ball available.

It's a good change by Dane Vilas, who takes the catch at mid-on from a miscued pull shot to give Tom Bailey his third wicket of the Yorkshire innings.

  13. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 39-1 lead by 134

Charlesworth picks up his second four with a cover drive off Brooks.

Ollie Price leaves Davey carefully outside the off stump.

  14. wicket

WICKET Reece c Mackintosh b Raine 39published at 12:20 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Derbys 306 & 50-1 v Durham 223

Great delivery from Ben Raine and Luis Reece can only feather it through to the keeper. Derbyshire lose their first wicket with their lead standing at 133.

Victory for the home side could put them second in Division Two, depending on the result in the Glamorgan match.

  15. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Cardiffpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Glamorgan 172-5 v Worcs 454-9 dec

Just a single from the latest Ed Barnard over at Sophia Gardens but a shower means the players are led off by the umpires.

Shubman Gill is still there on 60, an impressive first innings for the Welsh club, and Billy Root has seven.

  16. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 205-7

Jordan Thompson isn't a batter who likes hanging around and when Matt Parkinson overpitches, he summarily thumps it away through mid-wicket for four.

Parkinson is giving the ball plenty of air but that one was just too full.

Yorkshire have their first batting point, by the way.

  17. Somerset strike at Tauntonpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Somerset 248 v Gloucs 343 & 35-1 lead by 130

Peach of a delivery from Davey. Late swing as Harris is beaten while trying to block.

Ollie Price is the new batter for Gloucester.

A disappointing end to the season for Harris but a good one overall.

726 first class runs for the county at 42.

  18. wicket

WICKET Keogh c Donald b Abbott 0published at 12:12 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Hants 400-9d v Northants 95-4

    Another one for Hampshire.

    Excellent delivery from Kyle Abbott.

Rob Keogh pokes at one that leaves him and nicks behind for a 10-ball duck.

Hampshire really in the driving seat now.

  19. wicket

Josh Davey switches to the Trescothick Pavilion End. He bowled three overs for just four runs from the River End without really troubling the openers.

Bowled him! Marcus Harris is beaten on the outside edge and loses his off stump.

  20. wicket

WICKET TKC c Hartley b Parkinson 51published at 12:08 British Summer Time 7 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 199-7

Yorkshire have been tied down by spin and when Tom Kohler-Cadmore finally loses patience, it costs him his wicket.

The right-hander tries to sweep a ball from Matt Parkinson, but it comes off the top edge and Tom Hartley runs in from backward square to take a well-judged sliding catch.

Dom Bess is 22 not out as Jordan Thompson joins him in the middle.
