    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 218-9

Plenty of ducking and weaving from Lizaad Williams as he plays out a maiden from James Fuller - and that will give Mohammad Abbas the chance to bowl at last man Jack White.

    We've got 16 overs left.

  2. Play to resume at Derbypublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Derbys 306 & 214-9 dec v Durham 223 & 108-5

You may have been thinking that Hampshire v Northants is our final game of the day - but, no.

There will be a 16:50 re-start at the Incora County Ground, where the home side have 17 overs to try and take five wickets for victory.

That's an absolute beauty from Mohammad Abbas and rips out Ben Sanderson's off stump!

Northamptonshire are nine down and still seven runs short of making Hampshire bat again.

Jack White comes to the middle to join Lizaad Williams.

  5. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 217-8

Plenty of Hampshire eyes being cast anxiously towards the sky above the Ageas Bowl as their side press for these last two Northants wickets.

James Fuller has come back on to give Keith Barker a rest and he almost gets Ben Sanderson with a yorker, but the tailender digs it out and collects a single that lowers the deficit into single figures.

  6. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 212-8

Lizaad Williams is off the mark, managing to squirt away Keith Barker's attempted yorker for a single as Northamptonshire creep towards that 225 mark - which would force Hampshire to bat again.

We have a minimum 20 overs remaining, assuming the light permits it - which looks questionable.

    Breaking

    Lancs 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 102-3

No lengthy waiting around at Old Trafford - the umpires and two captains make a quick decision to call the game off after rain arrives.

Lancashire did their level best to force a victory, adding 77 to their overnight 203-3 and then setting Yorkshire a target of 302.

The White Rose county were content to play for a draw and although Lancashire got rid of Adam Lyth early, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Will Fraine defied them for 29 overs until the weather arrived.

Lancashire are in the One-Day Cup final and a double is still mathematically possible, but they are going to have to win their last two games and hope other teams can do them favours against Surrey and Hampshire if the title is to be theirs.

WICKET Taylor c Donald b Abbas 11published at 16:27 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 210-8

Mohammad Abbas comes back on to replace James Fuller - and immediately grabs his third wicket!

Tom Taylor gets an inside edge and Aneurin Donald, diving to his left, pulls off an excellent catch.

Northants still trail by 15 as Ben Sanderson emerges onto the field.

  9. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 208-7

Lizaad Williams has joined Tom Taylor at the wicket, with Hampshire apparently closing in.

The left-handed Williams plays out a maiden from Keith Barker and we still have a possible 22 overs available, with Northants trailing by 17.

    Big wicket for Hampshire!

Ricardo Vasconcelos had just straight driven Keith Barker for four, but the bowler gets the last word, nipping one back to pin him leg before.

Northamptonshire are still 17 behind, with just three wickets standing...

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Lancs 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 102-3

We've had rain just about everywhere else today - and two balls into a Will Williams over, it finally arrives at Old Trafford.

If there was to be no further play, Yorkshire would take 13 points for the draw and be 25 points clear of the bottom two with three matches to play.

A similar tally for Lancashire would leave them 21 behind Surrey with only two left to play - and even further adrift of Hampshire if they manage to force a win over Northants at the Ageas Bowl.

  12. Postpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 102-3

Tom Bailey back now for Lancashire.

This may look like it's heading for a draw - but there are still plenty of overs left and one wicket can lead to another etc etc.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore drives and some less than brilliant fielding by Steven Croft allows a boundary as Yorkshire's total reaches three figures.

  13. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 202-6

Hampshire have brought James Fuller into the attack, but his first over is a rather untidy one, with one delivery pitching and searing past first slip for four byes.

Northamptonshire have now passed 200, with Tom Taylor steering Fuller to the boundary and they're now just 23 in arrears. Still 26 overs left, but don't forget we'd lose two of those if there were a change of innings.

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 193-6

Of course, one way Northamptonshire can save this game is by getting themselves into the lead and forcing Hampshire to bat again.

Ricardo Vasconcelos has just lifted Keith Barker over the fence at long leg for six, which will help bring the deficit down. The visitors still trail by 32.

  16. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Lancs 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 96-3

Will Fraine has shown that he isn't just prepared to dead-bat everything - and he starts a new Tom Hartley over by driving a full toss through the covers for four. A minimum of 25 more to be bowled.

  17. Postpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 185-6

This is superb bowling from Keith Barker, keeping the pressure firmly on Northamptonshire as he sends down a maiden that has Ricardo Vasconcelos playing and missing three times.

Tom Taylor has joined Vasconcelos at the crease and the visitors are still 40 behind, with 30 overs scheduled for play.

  18. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Lancs 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 91-3

Will Fraine tickles Matt Parkinson's first ball of a new over to fine leg for a single. The spinner's next ball is a wide but that's all from that one.

  19. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Lancs 276 & 280-5 dec v Yorks 255 & 89-3

Will Fraine square cuts a wide one from Matt Parkinson and it has the legs to reach the rope.

Fraine moves into double figures and partner Tom Kohler-Cadmore is on 30.

  20. wicket

WICKET Sales c Vince b Abbas 3published at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 181-6

Just what Hampshire were looking for!

Mohammad Abbas persuades James Sales to prod outside off stump and James Vince pouches the catch at first slip.

Six down, four to go and Northamptonshire still need 44 to make their hosts bat again.
