  1. Rain delay in Derbypublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 103-3 (target 298 v Derbyshire)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The radar shows lots of heavy rain slowly heading our way and the first stoppage of the day came at 2.10pm with Durham chasing 298 in 87 overs to win this one.

There have been signs of intent from Nic Maddinson, who has struggled for runs since joining the club a few weeks ago. He's played some aggressive shots for his 32 runs, his best score so far in the County Championship.

Sean Dickson also tried to drive things along but lost his off-stump when he went down the track on 18 to Anuj Dal, having previously been dropped in the slips on 11.

Opener Michael Jones played on to Ben Aitchison and the delivery which removed Scott Borthwick's middle stump was an absolute corker from Sam Conners. Borthwick was on 16 when he was yorked and ended up on his hands and knees.

It remains to be seen how much further action we will see given the forecast.

    Yorks 75-3 (target 302 v Lancs)

Back to back maidens by Tom Hartley and Matt Parkinson.

Yorkshire need 227 from 42 overs - but the way they are playing seems to be all about securing a draw.

Lancashire decide something different is required and call up strike bowler Tom Bailey.

Rain stops play at Derbypublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 103-3 (target 298) v Derbyshire

Derby has stayed dry until now, but unfortunately rain has intervened in what was promising to be an interesting finish.

Nic Maddinson is looking nicely set for Durham on 32 not out, with his side needing another 195 from 54 overs.

Derbyshire, meanwhile, are after seven more wickets. Whether either side will get a chance to reach those objectives remains to be seen...

  5. Postpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 73-3 (target 302 v Lancs)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is playing an alien game at the moment, with his mind chiefly focused on defence.

Matt Parkinson sends down a wide and TKC then collects a single from the final ball of the over to keep the strike.

WICKET Cobb lbw b Abbas 22published at 14:07 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 177-5

Josh Cobb will be fuming right now.

The umpires initially waved the groundstaff on with the covers as rain began to return, then changed their minds and the Northamptonshire batters, who were halfway to the dressing room already, had to turn around.

Cobb then resumed strike, was struck on the pad by Mohammad Abbas and the umpire's finger went up - immediately followed by the return of the covers as the rest of the players accompanied Cobb off the field.

    Yorkshire 71-3 (target 302 v Lancs)

Will Fraine is off the mark with a square cut for four at the start of a new Tom Hartley over.

A rare poor ball by the spinner - but the next five are all dots.

  8. wicket

WICKET Bean c Lavelle b Hartley 25published at 13:55 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 67-3 (target 302 v Lancs)

Tom Hartley starts a new over and there's his second wicket.

Fin Bean pushes forward but a little away drift results in an edge which keeper George Lavelle takes up near his shoulder.

Will Fraine is the new Yorkshire batter.

  9. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 169-4

Northamptonshire are living dangerously at the moment - Josh Cobb in particular.

He's padded up to Mohammad Abbas a couple of times and got away with it, while Ricardo Vasconcelos has been playing and missing at the Hampshire seamer.

Still a deficit of 56 to be wiped out before the visitors can safely say Hampshire will have to bat again.

  10. GLAMORGAN DRAW WITH WORCESTERSHIREpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 8 September 2022
    Breaking

    Glamorgan 295 & 5-0 v Worcestershire 454-9 dec

Just 11.4 overs possible on the final day at Sophia Gardens and the umpires have decided to call the game off.

Worcestershire enforced the follow-on after Dillion Pennington and Ben Gibbon took four wickets each in Glamorgan's first innings.

But there hopes of pressing on for a fourth win of the season were foiled by the weather.

They take 14 points and Glamorgan 12, which lifts the Welsh club into second place in Division Two - thought Derbyshire can overtake them if they defeat Durham.

    Yorks 67-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

Lancashire believe they have Tom Kohler-Cadmore caught by Keaton Jennings, but the umpire says he played it into the ground.

There's a bit of turn there for Tom Hartley, who is playing his first Championship game of the season.

He has 1-17 from 10 overs.

  12. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 64-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

Matt Parkinson is wide of off stump at the start of a new over and Tom Kohler-Cadmore is able to thump it away through mid-on for the second boundary of his innings.

A single follows and he is 20 not out, with Fin Bean on 24.

Another 238 needed by Yorkshire from 52 overs.

    Yorks 57-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

It would be a real shame if the weather spoiled what is building up to be an exciting finish at Old Trafford. The skies don't look quite so friendly now, though.

Just a single to Fin Bean from the latest Matt Parkinson over.

  15. wicket

WICKET Dickson b Dal 18published at 13:41 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 81-3 (target 298) v Derbyshire

Anuj Dal thought he'd picked up the wicket of Sean Dickson a few overs back - but now he does so in emphatic style.

Dickson comes down the track to the Derbyshire seamer, misses, and can only look back in horror as his stumps are splayed.

That brings Jonathan Bushnell to the crease, with Durham still 217 short of their target and Derbyshire needing seven more wickets.

WICKET Keogh lbw b Barker 14published at 13:40 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Hampshire 400-9 dec v Northants 175 & 161-4

Up and running at the Ageas Bowl - and Keith Barker has given Hampshire the perfect start, nipping one back to pin Rob Keogh leg before for 14 in the second over!

It isn't all good news for the home side, though, with Kyle Abbott off the field after picking up an injury yesterday - and the weather still looking unsettled to say the least.

  17. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 51-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

Matt Parkinson drops short and Fin Bean pulls it away with authority for four runs. A single two balls later takes the young left-hander to 22.

  18. Postpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 45-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

Tom Hartley has taken the shades off now.

A full toss is punched down the ground for four by Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Hartley ends the over with another but this time it's only three for the Yorkshire batter.

  19. Postpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 71-2 (target 298) v Derbyshire

Derbyshire thought they'd picked up a third Durham wicket in the third over after lunch, with Sean Dickson nibbling outside off stump at Anuj Dal.

The bowler had already raced towards wicketkeeper Brooke Guest and the slips to begin his celebrations, but umpire Nick Cook remained unmoved.

So Dickson is still there, 18 not out, with Nic Maddinson on nine.

  20. Postpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 38-2 (target 302 v Lancs)

Tom Kohler-Cadmore now on strike to Matt Parkinson.

A silly mid-off is brought in. Five dot balls, then TKC takes a single to fine leg to keep the strike.
