    Yorks 21-1 (target 302 v Lancs)

Will Williams' opening spell brought him 1-6 from six overs.

Now Tom Bailey is back for a second burst.

George Hill flicks off his hip for four - the first boundary of the innings.

The ball is lost under the temporary stand.

"It's like a Meccano set, that stand," says BBC West Yorkshire Sport commentator Jonathan Doidge.

  2. dropped catch

    Durham 53-1 (target 298) v Derbyshire

Derbyshire should have a second wicket in the bag here, with Sean Dickson edging Ben Aitchison low to first slip - but Mark Watt shells the chance.

Dickson, who had just brought up Durham's 50 by leg-glancing Aitchison for four, has 11 not out, while Scott Borthwick is alongside him on 16.

Durham need 245 more to win, with 71 overs left in the day.

  3. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 17-1 (target 302 v Lancs)

George Balderson has done an excellent job so far for Lancashire as first-change. Just a couple of singles in his latest over and he has 0-4 from three.

Early lunch in Southampton as well, with no play possible so far today.

However, there is a glimmer of light for Hampshire, with a pitch inspection scheduled for 12.30. If the umpires give the all-clear, then play will begin at 12.40.

  5. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Lavelle b Williams 5published at 12:01 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 15-1 (target 302 v Lancs)

Adam Lyth goes for a drive - one of very few shots in anger so far in this Yorkshire innings - but edges through to the keeper.

That's a big breakthrough by Will Williams for Lancashire with half an hour to go to lunch.

George Hill is in at number three.

    Kent 164 & 137-8 v Essex 573

Frustration for Essex, who will now sit down to an early lunch and they'll also be chewing over the prospects of finishing off this game against Kent.

The umpires have not yet deemed the pitch fit for play, but a further inspection is scheduled for 12.15. Still plenty of time for Essex to pick up those last two wickets...

Mike: "Great to have red ball Test Cricket and County Cricket back after what was for the latter a totally blank August. But it's raining all over the place right now, very frustrating. Still, at least it was sunny for all of The Hundred. Yippee, two cheers. Grrrrr. #bbccricket, external"

  8. Postpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 14-0 (target 302 v Lancs)

Will Williams appeals for lbw against Fin Bean.

Nothing doing from the umpire. May have been missing leg stump.

It's another maiden, though. Bean and Adam Lyth are both five not out.

Hard to believe that Luke Wells made 124 off 82 balls on this same pitch yesterday.

  9. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 42-1 (target 298) v Derbyshire

Scott Borthwick is keeping the scoreboard ticking over, punching Sam Conners off the back foot for four and then adding another boundary in the next over off Ben Aitchison.

The Durham skipper is 11 not out, with Sean Dickson on six.

  10. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 12-0 (target 302 v Lancs)

Two runs for Fin Bean at the start of a new Will Williams over.

Wonder what impact leg-spinner Matt Parkinson will have on the outcome of this match?

  11. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 31-1 (target 298) v Derbyshire

The dismissal of Michael Jones has certainly slowed Durham's scoring rate, but if - and it's a big if - we get a full day's play, there's no reason why this 298 target shouldn't be a possibility.

Still 78 overs scheduled and 267 required. Derbyshire will certainly be hoping their visitors have a go as they bid for the nine wickets that would lift them to second place in the table for now.

  12. Notts skipper delighted to 'get the job done'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Steven MullaneyImage source, Rex Features

Nottinghamshire skipper Steven Mullaney hailed a "magnificent show of character" by his team after yesterday's home win over Leicestershire put them on the brink of promotion.

It was their seventh win in 12 games - with just one defeat - and left Notts 50 points clear, pending the outcome of today's games involving Glamorgan and Derbyshire.

“ We have to be honest with ourselves and admit that we were nowhere near our best, so still to come out with 20 points is a massive thing in our season," Mullaney said.

“I think we were a bit rusty after the break from county cricket and we didn’t bowl particularly well all game. But the main thought in our heads coming back was to get the job done, get as many points as possible and put ourselves in a commanding position."

  13. Postpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 7-0 (target 302 v Lancs)

Tom Bailey comes in again from the Brian Statham End.

It's another accurate over from the Lancashire paceman, with a single by Adam Lyth the sole scoring stroke.

  14. wicket

WICKET Jones b Aitchison 24published at 11:35 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 26-1 (target 298) v Derbyshire

    Ben AitchisonImage source, Rex Features

Apologies to Michael Jones - we clearly jinxed him there!

The Durham opener had a bit of luck in the previous over, but he's certainly unfortunate as he tries to pull his bat out of the way against Ben Aitchison and deflects the ball onto his stumps.

One down, nine to go for Derbyshire as Scott Borthwick comes out to join Sean Dickson.

  16. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Durham 26-0 (target 298) v Derbyshire

No joy as yet for the Derbyshire bowlers as they attempt to make inroads in the Durham second innings.

Michael Jones rode his luck a little just now, driving Nick Potts just wide of third slip's hand for another boundary and he's scored 24 from just 20 balls. Opening partner Sean Dickson's progress has been more sedate, with just one to his name so far.

  17. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 6-0 (target 302 v Lancs)

There's the first boundary of the Yorkshire second innings, for Adam Lyth off Tom Bailey. In theory, there are 81 more overs left for the White Rose to get these runs.

  18. rain stops play

    Glamorgan 295 & 5-0 v Worcs 454-9 dec

Only nine balls of the Glamorgan second innings gone - and now the players are back in the dressing room as a shower descends on Sophia Gardens.

David Lloyd is four not out, with Ed Byrom yet to get off the mark and Glamorgan are still trailing by 154.

    Somerset 11-0 (target 375 v Gloucs)

Five balls into a Tom Lammonby over and the players have to leave the field. We can't afford to lose many overs or this Somerset target will become unrealistic - and draw wouldn't do either side any good, especially Gloucestershire.

  20. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 8 September 2022

    Yorks 2-0 (target 302 v Lancs)

Fin Bean is off the mark with a glance for two.

Will Williams appears to bowling a tight line with the hope of a bat-pad to short leg.

"The rest of this session is going to be gripping stuff," says 5 Live Sports Extra commentator Kevin Howells.
