  1. Run-out near miss at Edgbastonpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 192-9

Warwickshire's last pair Mohammed Siraj and Oliver Hannon-Dalby are edging their way towards 200 - and parity on bonus points from this game against their chief relegation rivals.

But, in trying to take the singles on offer from a well-spread-out field, Siraj has just survived a run-out in a mix-up.

Somerset skipper Tom Abell had all three stumps to aim for - but missed!

The new ball is due. Will Abell take it?

  2. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 50-1 v Essex 225

George Hill picks up a couple and it's enough for Yorkshire to bring up the 50.

The deficit is only 41 as the White Rose try to claw themselves to parity.

  3. Jones misses out on a tonpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Leicestershire 202, Durham 194-3

Durham have almost overhauled the Leicestershire score in the one game still going on in Division Two.

With seven wickets remaining, they now trail the hosts by just eight runs.

But Michael Jones missed out on his century, falling just short on 97, and skipper Scott Borthwick has just gone too for 30.

  4. Bad light stops play at Northamptonpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 224-5

Umpires Peter Hartley and Graham Lloyd come together, check their light meters and decide that it's time for the players to come off, having compared it to when they came off for bad light yesterday.

Hashim Amla heads off, unbeaten on 97 and he is playing a super hand for Surrey.

  5. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 224-5

A leg-stump half tracker from Saif Zaib gets the treatment it deserves and Jordan Clark bludgeons it over the midwicket rope for a maximum.

The umpires are now gathering for a chat about the light.

  6. Postpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 47-1 v Essex 225

Fin Bean and George Hill are showing real determination to make it to the close tonight.

They have a potential 13 overs to survive to do that, but it probably won't be anywhere near that many.

  7. Close of play at Lord'spublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 286-5

Confirmation of what we hinted at earlier.

Fourth-placed Division Two promotion hopefuls Middlesex will resume in the morning with John Simpson on 72 and Ryan Higgins on 35, leading second-placed Glamorgan by 72 runs with five wickets remaining.

With two days left, it's advantage London.

  8. wicket

    WICKET - Briggs b Aldridge 15published at 17:31 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 180-9

Danny Briggs is the next to depart, bowled by Kasey Aldridge.

Warwickshire are now nine down - and still trail by 39.

Somerset have a third bowling point - and last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby comes in to join Mohammed Siraj with the Bears still short of a batting point.

OHD is more than capable of surviving in these circumstances, as solid a last man as you could wish for, who has already added to that reputation this season but Siraj may well be in the mood to get to 200 in a hurry.

    This could be fun.

  9. First batting point for Surreypublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 202-4

A lovely reverse sweep for four from Hashim Amla sees him move to 91.

It is enough to take Surrey past 200 and pick up the first of five possible batting points.

Hampshire's lead at the top of the Championship, as things stand, is now down to four points.

  10. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Lord'spublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Glamorgan 214, Middlesex 286-5

It's now raining again at Lord's.

Expect the Middlesex-Glamorgan game to be the next one to get the hook.

Middlesex lead by 72 runs with five wickets remaining - and John Simpson (72) and Ryan Higgins (35) both going well. The hosts are right in the box seat now in this meeting of fourth against second.

  11. wicket

WICKET Steel b Keogh 48published at 17:18 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 195-5

    The partnership is broken.

A super delivery from Rob Keogh as he gets one to turn sharply and it beats Cameron Steel's defences.

Steel falls just short of a first 50 of the summer as he slowed up in the forties and his stand of 115 with Hashim Amla is over.

The amount of turn Keogh found there will sharpen the minds of all batters for the rest of this game.

  12. Close of play at Hovepublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    : Sussex 220, Worcestershire 289-2 (80 overs)

As expected, it's stumps at Hove. - to no doubt be followed by the five other games over the next hour.

Not many matches get past six o'clock now in September, when light becomes such an issue.

But there are stil two days left for promotion-chasing Worcestershire, who already lead by 69 runs, to try and force a result against Sussex.

  13. wicket

    WICKET Lyth c Rossington b S Cook 4published at 17:13 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 25-1 v Essex 225

Who else but Sam Cook makes the breakthrough.

As good bowlers do, Cook forces Adam Lyth into a shot he does not want to play, it's edged and a routine take for the wicketkeeper.

Lyth swishes his bat in frustration at what he has done.

  14. wicket

    WICKET - Brookes c Gregory b Brooks 0published at 17:11 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 166-8

  15. Postpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Yorkshire 134 & 25-0 v Essex

Some lovely offside boundaries from Fin Bean as Yorkshire make a positive start to their second innings.

They have quickly reduced the deficit down to 66 runs.

  16. 100 partnershippublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 180-4

A nice cover drive from Cameron Steel is enough to bring up a century stand for him and Hashim Amla.

It has come in 28 overs, so at a good rate, too. From 80-4, this is a good turnaround.

  17. wicket

WICKET - Hain lbw b Brooks 67published at 17:00 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Somerset 219, Warwickshire 156-7

A third Warwickshire wicket goes down in just seven overs - all to Jack Brooks.

This time he gets the big one - Sam Hain, for 67, the highest individual score of the match.

Although there could be an even bigger scalp to follow.

Henry Brookes got Jack Brooks out earlier in the day.

The Bears Brookes is the new man in and the fired-up, head-banded Somerset Brooks would no doubt love to return the favour.

With three wickets having gone down for just 15 runs, the Bears still trail by 63.

  18. Yet more off-on antics in Div 2published at 16:59 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

Back on again at Lord's, where Middlesex are now on 272-5, now leading Glamorgan by 47.

But, having been back on, they're now back off again at Hove, where bad light has delayed the Pears' progress.

Worcestershire are now the ones stuck, on 289-2 - a 69-run lead over Sussex but surely approaching that time of the day when going off for bad light means that will be it for the day.

It is, in fairness, exactly what the BBC weather forecast said would happen today.

Meanwhile, up in the East Midlands, Michael Jones edges forward to 83 out of 136-1 as Durham reply capably to the 202 all out made by winless bottom side Leicestershire.

  19. Amla finding his groovepublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 176-4

Hashim Amla pierces the cover fielders with a powerful drive to the fence. The South Africa legend is starting to find his groove here.

He is now up to 71 and Northants would love to see the back of him.

  20. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 13 September 2022

    Northants 339 v Surrey 169-4

Northants have turned to spin in the form of Rob Keogh. He had a great day with the bat with his 123. Sometimes that can help the other part of the game.

A few singles and a couple from Cameron Steel from the first two overs.

The floodlights are now shining brightly over Wantage Road.
