  1. wicket

WICKET Roach b Hill 2published at 10:48 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 299-9 v Yorks

Two in five balls for George Hill and what a delivery that was!

Extravagant inswing for the Yorkshire all-rounder is too much for Kemar Roach, who loses his leg stump.

Surrey have lost three wickets for seven so far this morning.

  2. Postpublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 315-7 v Notts

Roderick moves to 96 with a straight drive off the bowling of Jake Ball.

He spoils the mood a little bit with a swing and a miss outside the off stump but survives.

100 overs bowled and Worcester have a more than respectable score.

  3. wicket

WICKET Overton lbw Hill 9published at 10:45 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 297-8 v Yorks

Tom Lawes drives Ben Mike straight down the ground for the day's first boundary at the Oval.

But Jamie Overton is leg before to the opening delivery of George Hill's next over - not much doubt there as he played across the line.

The new ball will be available in 3.5 overs - will Yorkshire need it?

  4. Five-wicket haulpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 v Lancs 131 & 34-7

Snater now has the ridiculous figures of 5-6 from 4.2 overs.

  5. ouch!

Warwickshire tail hanging on at Bristolpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 259-9

Sidebottom is struck on the body by a bumper from David Payne.

That must have smarted a bit but he doesn't show it and survives the 100th over of the innings.

  6. wicket

WICKET Bell b Snater 24published at 10:44 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 v Lancs 131 & 34-7

    Shane SnaterImage source, Rex Features

George Bell looks to work Shane Snater through midwicket, but walks too far across his stumps and is bowled behind his legs.

  7. for Michael Finanpublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Leics v Middx 297

    Michael FinanImage source, Rex Features

Well bowled Michael Finan, who finishes off the Middlesex first innings at Grace Road in short order.

The left-arm paceman bowls last man Tim Murtagh for four to finish with figures of 5-58 from 18 overs - his maiden five-for in only his third first-class match.

Only two batting points for promotion-chasing Middlesex.

  8. Worcester tail frustrates Nottspublished at 10:43 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 310-7 v Notts

Tongue hits two successive fours off the bowling of Jake Ball.

The first is driven through the covers and the second is a very well executed drive straight down the ground.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

Here's the latest from our Second Division games, bar our featured Worcestershire v Notts match....

David Lloyd picks up a single off Anuj Dal to bring up a 200 partnership with Billy Root for Glamorgan, who are 383-3 against Derbyshire.

Durham have made a positive start at the Riverside and are 65-1 in the 18th over, replaying to 162 all out by Sussex.

Michael Finan has his fourth wicket for Leicestershire, bowling Ethan Bamber for two to leave Middlesex on 293-9.

  10. Postpublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Essex 107 v Lancs 131 & 33-6

George Bell picks up four down to third and has his first runs of the morning. Not entirely convincing, but Lancashire will take runs however they come on this pitch.

Compared to yesterday's madness, the opening few overs at Chelmsford have been fairly low-key.

  11. Postpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 256-9

That takes Zafar's figures to a very impressive 32.1-10-59-5.

    Quite a shift.

  12. wicket

    WICKET Hannon-Dalby b Zafar 1published at 10:36 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 256-9

    Early breakthrough for Gloucestershire!

Beautifully flighted ball that drifts in, turns and beats a defensive prod.

Time for last man Ryan Sidebottom to have a bat.

  13. Postpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Somerset 272-4 v Northants

Jack White opens up for Northants at Taunton.

Just a single from it for James Rew.

  14. wicket

WICKET Clark b Mike 55published at 10:34 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 293-7 v Yorks

There is Ben Mike's first wicket for Yorkshire - and he'll be delighted with that after proving expensive on day one.

Jordan Clark chops one onto his stumps and departs without adding to his overnight score.

Tom Lawes is the new Surrey batter.

  15. Pears pass 300published at 10:33 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 302-7 v Notts

And Josh Tongue edges Hutton wide of the keeper and slips to take the Pears to 300.

He takes a single off the next ball and passes the strike on to Gareth Roderick.

Early slice of luck for the hosts.

  16. Postpublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Surrey 293-6 v Yorkshire

Jordan Clark is 55 not out and Jamie Overton has nine as day two begins at the Micky Stewart Oval.

With Hampshire struggling against Kent, Surrey could really make a title statement here by pushing on for four or five batting points.

Ben Mike has an over to complete and his first ball is a wide.

  17. Play Resumes at New Roadpublished at 10:32 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Worcs 297-7 v Notts

The promotion hopefuls have really been held up by Brett D'Oliveira, who made 85 yesterday and Gareth Roderick, on 91 not out.

At one stage the Pears were reeling at 99-5.

The Worcestershire number nine Josh Tongue will have the strike after pinching a single off the last ball before the close yesterday.

Brett Hutton to bowl first. Two slips in place.

  18. Day Two begins in Bristolpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 255-8

Can Warwickshire eke out another batting point today?

The two they already have looked unlikely after they slumped to 138-6 on Tuesday afternoon.

Gloucestershire will be seething about the two drops that reprieved Sibley (then on 14) and Briggs, who had 19 at the time.

The unlucky bowlers were Tom Price and Ajeet-Singh Dale.

Spare a thought for Zafar Gohar, who has bowled 32 overs for his 4-59.

David Payne to bowl from the Ashley Down road end to Oliver Hannon-Dalby. Sibley is 105 not out at the other end.

  19. Postpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 21 September 2022

    Hampshire 57 v Kent 165 & 20-3

It looks like an absolutely gorgeous day down on the south coast.

Ian Holland has the ball in hand, hunting the wickets that Hampshire so desperately need.

The first ball of the morning spits off a length, and Daniel Bell-Drummond does extremely well to get out of the way.
