    Surrey 333 v Yorks 179 & 179-6

Jamie Overton is certainly throwing himself into this - the England fast bowler's follow-through taking him half-way down the pitch.

A couple of singles and Overton then shakes up Jordan Thompson with a rapid delivery angled in from round the wicket. The left-hander needs a bit of treatment after a bang on the helmet.

  2. 50 runs

for Max Holdenpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Leicestershire 294 v Middlesex 297 & 123-3

Mike Finan spears one down leg and Max Holden tickles it fine to bring up his half century.

Going at more than a run-a-ball, he has really brought some impetus into this Middlesex innings.

  3. Postpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Gloucs 255 & 15-1 v Warwks 274 & 128 - target 148

Hannon-Dalby pushes the ball out wide and Ollie Price chases it, missing with an attempted cut.

The next ball is left alone but the ball jags back and only just clears the stumps. A drive and a miss off the third.

    Gloucestershire living dangerously.

Kent have also announced this lunchtime that next Tuesday, 27 September, day two of their fixture against Somerset at Canterbury has been designated 'Stevo Day'.

It is to mark the 17-year career of Darren Stevens, whose career with the Spitfires ended with his unbeaten 33 in the One-Day Cup final win over Lancashire on Saturday.

The 46-year-old will have a special presentation on the outfield at lunchtime as the club acknowledge his enormous contribution over almost two decades.

  7. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Surrey 333 v Yorks 179 & 171-6

This could be a decisive session at the Oval.

Will Surrey run through the Yorkshire lower order, or will the White Rose frustrate the Division One leaders?

Dan Worrall will bowl to Dom Bess - and he makes no contact with an attempted square cut from the first delivery.

  8. Warwickshire strike early after lunchpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Gloucs 255 & 9-1 v Warwks 274 & 128 - target 148

That scalp gives Hannon-Dalby 50 Championship wickets for the season.

The new batter is Ollie Price.

    Somerset 389 & 14-0 v Northants 265

    WICKET Charlesworth c Hain b Hannon-Dalby 7published at 13:13 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Gloucs 255 & 9-1 v Warwks 274 & 128 - target 148

Hannon-Dalby begins with a ball so wide it barely lands on the cut strip.

The second ball is driven through the covers by Charlesworth for four - but he's beaten outside off by the fifth ball and out caught at second slip from the sixth!

Charlesworth is tempted into a big drive and that's a fantastic grab just above head height by Sam Hain.

Let's just say it is not a ringing endorsement.

A good start to the session for the Hampshire captain.

    Glamorgan 550-5 dec v Derbys 211-5

Glamorgan need early wickets to keep the pressure on 3rd placed Worcestershire and Middlesex, currently second.

The Pears demolished Notts this morning and Middlesex appear to have the upper hand against Leicestershire.

Anuj Dal and Harry Came are back in the middle.

Timm van der Gugten will bowl.

  14. Play resumes in Bristolpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Gloucs 255 & 4-0 v Warwks 274 & 128 - target 148

Ben Charlesworth and Chris Dent bat on, looking for Gloucestershire's first Championship win of the season.

Warwickshire need early wickets and ideally for Somerset and Kent to do no more than draw their games at Taunton and Southampton respectively, unlikely though that may be for the latter.

    Hannon-Dalby will bowl to Charlesworth.

  18. 'No-nonsense' stand prevents Northants follow-onpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 22 September 2022

    Somerset 389 & 12-0 v Northants 265

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

With Craig Overton's workload being carefully managed as he recovers from a back injury and Lewis Gregory's back being too stiff for him to bowl, Somerset captain Tom Abell was probably relieved that a no-nonsense partnership between Tom Taylor and Lizaard Williams spared him a decision on whether to enforce the follow-on.

As it is Somerset have a lead of 136 and the opportunity to stretch that to beyond 300, a position of strength for which they largely have Overton to thank.

The big Devonian took a stunning catch off the very first ball of the day to see off Saif Zaib, and walked off at the end of the innings with the ball held high, his third five-for of the season under his belt.

Taylor, however, remained unbeaten, his 60 being his highest first-class score for Northants and very well he batted too.
